We'd been trying to find a simple, plain tablecloth for our dining room table for months. Nothing fancy, just some heavy material that didn't have some busy pattern and would lie flat and not wrinkle up and stuff. You'd think this would be easy to find but we just didn't have any luck. The old thing we had on there was this shit plastic thing which would flake off bits on the carpet and had these folds that wouldn't smooth out. Man, it sucked. So now the whole table is covered in this mousepad-type backing with thin fabric glued on top. It's all one piece, like 6'x4 or so and it's great. No slip, smoooth, flat as glass. I fucking love it.
Only one problem... the color. For some reason the girlfriend thought super bright red would be a good color. I have no idea what she was thinking. It's like the lining of a fucking vampire's coffin. But there was no way to return it and I guess they only had two colors to choose from or something, I dunno. Color aside, it's great. It looks just like a regular tablecloth but has that slight cushion to it and has just the right amount of friction. Cards pick up easy too. It wasn't cheap ($86 shipped) but I will eventually replace it with another one with a more neutral color if I can.
