maybe $60 from some sellers?

$25-30 minus minis?

Is this a thing? Buying it just for the teams? Because I would definitely be in the market for BB sans minis. Then I could use my Elfball teams until I decide if I want to commit to a BB team.

It will be a thing.

1) To completely fill out a roster of 16, coaches will need to buy two box sets at first.

2) With GW board games there are always ebay sellers partitioning out the parts.
Do an ebay search for "Warhammer Quest Silver Tower Game Only no models nos wfb AoS"
Silver Tower is a $150 but you can get it for $30-40 shipped with no minis. BB is only $100, but same size box, so due to shipping I expect a similar price range.

Or search on ebay for "Warhammer 40K: Deathwatch Overkill: Board Game, Rulebooks & Accessories no minis". that's like a $200 game...here it's $30 shipped sans minis.

I already have painted human and orc teams so plan to spend no more than $30 shipped on the new box and probably the $20 shipped to get the Deathzone book from Dan's.

These initial plastic GW teams at $35 a pop ($28 at Dan's) are an incredible deal. Even if you buy two boxes for under $70...you'll get full team and extras to convert/trade while saving $30 or more against the indy teams.

GW has done good here.

EDIT: is it "Dan's" or "Doc's"?

Ok, F:AT necromancers, curse you! I'm finally "in" on the GW miniatures bandwagon. I ordered a GW Blood Bowl bundle. And, I'll now have to assemble and paint all of this junk! I'm going to need a lot of advice and help. And, I do hope to play some of you one-day on the pitch.

P.S. I also saw on GW's website that that it shows it is now "out-of-stock" for the green Skaven dice so this gives me hope that there's been a fury of interest in renewed Blood Bowl.

I went all in too. Thanks for the link to Doc's site.

I'm looking forward to what they do in White Dwarf for this release. Do we know when the character minis come out?

So does anyone know why there is now a 2nd option on Doc's site that seems to be the same but $10 cheaper?

What are the extra four beyond the box used for (box is 12 right?).

I missed out on the Skaven being in stock, but I assume they will make their back to the GW shelfs in short order....

Boxes are 12...however a full roster can fit up to 16. Only up to 11 can be in play on the pitch at any one time though.

So, 11 playing with 5 riding the pine in reserves. This usually only happens in league play though.

The box set coming with 12 means you'll have 11 to play with, but only one reserve if a character gets injured.

The rub though is that each non-lineman positional type of player has a max count. So, if your orc team can have up to 4 blitzers and 4 black orc blockers...the box only comes with two of each. So...you'll need a second box to field all your possible team options and play to your strengths (blitzers and blockers being better than the jack-of-all-trades linemen).

This means, players may be buying more than one box to max their teams to 16 with all possible combinations...and have redundant bits they may want to sell to offset the cost of buying a second box...

Now, GW may very well likely sell clamshells with a few players so full second boxes aren't needed...but that hasn't materialized yet. In the meantime, I'm hoping to score a brand new mini-less copy of the game.

Will they likely sell human/orc boxes, or will I need to get an entire additional base game?

Clam packs make me nervous...that is where GW gets EXPENSIVE.

I would imagine that we will likely NOT see "booster" boxes of humans and orks, more likely clam packs and then possibly bundles like the Silver Tower characters, where you get four or five star players at a discount over the singletons.

In the third edition era (mid 90s) they sold box set teams of 11-12 like the current skaven team. They then sold some of those same figures packaged out 2-3 to a blister as 'boosters' (terrible name choice). So if you wanted to flesh out your team, you would buy a booster or two. Yes, these cost per mini ratio was upped here.

I'm not sure what they're plan is for this new release.

Sounds like they the first four teams (humans, orcs, dwarves, skaven) are going to be in plastic, but later teams and models will be in resin via Forge World. So, ogres and trolls (big guys) will be in resin. But as far as bringing the initial 4 teams up to 16...I don't know the plan. Maybe boosters? I know that even if you buy two skaven boxes to get a full squad you're still going to spend less than you would with the 3rd parties and you'd have extra minis for trading/selling/converting.

If you want to buy a second set so your human and orc teams are taken care of, I'll buy the rest of the box off you for $30 shipped. :)

Is there a big difference between assembling plastic and resin?

Resin requires super glue. It is more fragile, but can handle higher detail.

It is also prone to causing more cussing during assembly.
