Looking for Non-Violent Minis to Paint

More

I'm looking to purchase some fantasy or mythical miniatures, 28mm or up, to paint with great detail that do not suggest violence. I've poked around with no success. I'm not even sure this is a thing.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

There are a lot of Reaper Bones figures that aren't inherently violent. You might start there.

It might help if you explain what you mean by "suggest violence." I presume this means no weapons, but does it also apply to monsters and things that look scary? You say you're having trouble finding things, which suggests your definition of violence is pretty broad. It's hard to recommend anything without a better idea of what you're looking for.

At least 95% of AmeriTrash games feature violent topics, artwork, and/or miniatures, so this might not be the best forum for your question. A craft store like Michael's might have non-violent minis that you can paint, including miniature furniture. I once played a game at GenCon called Fairy Meat that had some attractive fairy minis, though some of them had weapons. That was more than a decade ago, so those minis might be out of circulation by now.

There's a ton of non-violent "hobby" miniatures out there - you just have to know where to look.

If you give us some examples of what's in your wheelhouse, I think we could come up with stuff.

Reaper Bones has several Familiars Packs that are nothing more than different animals. They're cheap, but their biggest drawbacks are that they're not very detailed (the metal versions might be better) and they can run kind of small. It depends on what you're using them for. They might be too small if you're letting a child use them for practice, for instance.

I was going to suggest the Reaper line as well. Some great ones that come to mind are a Forest Elemental/Ent that looks to be fun to paint. Also one of the larger pieces is a kraken that is next to the prow of a sunken ship. An airbrush would do the model justice.

Some good suggestions here - thanks to all.

I should have been more clear - yes, I'm looking for miniatures that are not monsters or characters with weapons, but fantastical or mythological. I didn't think of things like elementals or ents; that's pretty good. Something like a forest spirit in a glade would be great.

I want to paint something peaceful, fantastical, and to a high level of detail for display as a gift. If it's attached to some scenery I can paint as well, that would be ideal.

I know this is FA, by the way, but I assumed some of you took a break from bashing skulls once in a while. :)

From the Reaper site:
Spirit of the Forest

Kraken

These are two of my favorites from my Reaper Kickstarter.
