GW is coming back to Miniature Market

I just got an email from Miniature Market...they are getting Games Workshop back! GW has relaxed their online retailer policies, part of their GAMA announcements, and so MM will be bringing in pretty much everything at 15% off coming in May.

And Review Corner is going to be reviewing most of it.

Yay!

I am sure you are only going to be able to review boxes of Space Marine Scouts and Genestealers.

I wonder if we will still see the just-under-the-radar stockists that are 20-25% off MSRP, but no shopping cart.

I think we will- I don't see Doc's, MiniStomp or ChaosOrc changing their ways for any reason...

I hope the next Doc's newsletter has pre-orders for ShadowWar.

Wow, GW is allowing some mild discounting online ? In this day and age that's a pretty big change given where so many other manufacturers are going.

Its a smart move on their part IMO.

Well considering its been 15 years since they "helped out the B&M" by banning online shopping carts, the 15% discount is their way of saying "happy anniversary! Fuck you, and fuck you and fuck you and you and you!"

In all seriousness though, gw were the first in gaming to pull this crap, everyone else is just following their lead. Everyone is the Porsche of their own niche it seems.

This is great news, not as much for the discounts but for more (and more professional) reviews of GW boardgames. Although I have doubts Barnes can keep it impartial at this point of his and GW honeymoon.
I like the discounts, too, but I am worried if the proliferation of cheaper on-line sales will impact GW stores. Because big part of fun for me is the store.

Now, if only they can lift the trade embargo...

Will this apply to Hobbit/LOTR minis? I emailed Ministomp and they said they were considered "Web exclusives" and could only do a 15% discount instead of their normal 30% on GW products.

I'm not sure. The Hobbit stuff is handled through Forge World. The web exclusive stuff is apparently available in distribution to some folks- Ministomp can get it, but my FLGS can not for example.

Certain countries are barred from selling and shipping to other countries.

For example, OZ and New Zealand have ridiculous GW prices, as in, shockingly bad. But they can no longer order from, say, the war store and ship to them because if the war store does, then they risk losing access to GW products.
