I've come to love and appreciate almost everything about the setting and all the playstyle options.
Blightwars specifically...I was gearing up for a personal "Nurgle November" with the Nurgle SC set. Now...Imma gonna go with this. My son has none of these Stormcasts and that Nurgle hero is incredible. He harkens back to the humor of oldhammer models. I'd love to know who designed it.
Shadespire...meh. not sold. Looks like it's FFG designed...cards, minis, specialty dice, tokens, all manner of useless crap.
The randomized Battleplan cards and that reusable map campaign set are autobuys.
GHB17...so far so good...but do we need a collectors edition for a book that comes out annually?

I never really cared much about Nurgle but between what is going on with Death Guard over in 40k and this box...yeah, buddy. I guess I pretty much have a Nurgle army after this, between the Plague Bearers, Blightkings, and Lord of Plagues I already had for WHQ.

Still....ever since I laid eyes on this back of box image...I've been hit with nostalgia. Combine that with my AoS infatuation and it's getting likely I'm going to give this a shot.

There's no way it will reach Magic or X-Wing heights. Those are generation-defining games. But I think it has some legs if they keep up the support for it.
Everything's playable in AOS. Warscrolls for everything.

So... you're saying it's doomed?

There been any rumors on shadespire pricing yet? I'm not 100% sold on the game, sort of being burnt out on the FFG style of building card combos. But with warscrolls for all the models, I'll probably at least pick up that starter if it's not too expensive.

The thing about GW though...I feel like I need to have $50-150 on hand at all times. I mean, they announce something...two weeks later it's on the shelves (shadespire outstanding). I'm not in a place to buy Blightwar. It may even get pushed back to an early '18 purchase...

I'm not surprised as I'm sure GW would like to funnel players of that type game into the upcoming Shadespire.

Kinda dumb, since it is objectively one of their best designs ever.
But this may be more akin to what Disney does with their movies by putting them back into the "vault" so to speak. Gone for a bit, but not forgotten. Maybe.

I would be surprised if most of these recent boxed games, including Blightwar, are on their webstore after a year. They're mostly just ways for them to repackage miniatures in a way that appeals to a different audience. Not that some won't be reprinted if they deem there's interest. Space Hulk 3e has seen, what, 3 print runs?

Also, besides Shadespire, doesn't seem like there are any upcoming GW boardgames. It felt like GW dropped several over the course of a year, but now focus seems to be back on the minis wargames.
I've come around on the Stormcasts. They aren't the faction for me, but I like their place in the new setting and they ease at which they help people into the hobby. Very easy to paint.
