Y'all see this new Blightwar box? So excited for it...one side is Stormcast, but it's all of the more recent stuff- chocobo riders, pistoleros, etc...and a NEW lady Stormcast _without helmet_ to lead them. Other side is Nurgle- Plaguebearers, Drones, and this AMAZING dude on a big fucking snail. Apparently it comes with some very narrative batteplans.

And Shadespire is getting rave notices from folks...could be con excitement, but it's looking great.

The long and short of it is...I'm almost on the verge of selling off everything not AoS related.
I've come to love and appreciate almost everything about the setting and all the playstyle options.

Blightwars specifically...I was gearing up for a personal "Nurgle November" with the Nurgle SC set. Now...Imma gonna go with this. My son has none of these Stormcasts and that Nurgle hero is incredible. He harkens back to the humor of oldhammer models. I'd love to know who designed it.

Shadespire...meh. not sold. Looks like it's FFG designed...cards, minis, specialty dice, tokens, all manner of useless crap.

The randomized Battleplan cards and that reusable map campaign set are autobuys.

GHB17...so far so good...but do we need a collectors edition for a book that comes out annually?

I think the Nurgle snail is one of the top three AOS miniatures they've done. Actually, I think it may be the best. It's oddly...charming.

I never really cared much about Nurgle but between what is going on with Death Guard over in 40k and this box...yeah, buddy. I guess I pretty much have a Nurgle army after this, between the Plague Bearers, Blightkings, and Lord of Plagues I already had for WHQ.

wow, the back of the Shadespire box looks very much like an old school, classic gw board game. nice touch. i wonder if the side graphic and box size would also match.

also, it seems these characters may get warscrolls.

I don't see Shadespire reaching X-wing or Magic levels. i think being unpainted hurts it a little. However, if GW does each faction in its own plastic color then it may have worked a little better. Sort of like that new AoS starter...these Stormcast models should have been in the gold plastic. Deathrattle could be white, flesh eater courts grey, skaven brown, orruks green, tzeentch blue, etc, etc.

Still....ever since I laid eyes on this back of box image...I've been hit with nostalgia. Combine that with my AoS infatuation and it's getting likely I'm going to give this a shot.

Almost certain they will do the colors.

There's no way it will reach Magic or X-Wing heights. Those are generation-defining games. But I think it has some legs if they keep up the support for it.

Everything's playable in AOS. Warscrolls for everything.

Not surprised, but sort of disappointed that the Brightwar box is coming in at $160. Still a decent deal, but I may hold off unless I can find someone who wants the nurgle. Not looking to start a new army for that price, and have enough of a backlog as is.

There been any rumors on shadespire pricing yet? I'm not 100% sold on the game, sort of being burnt out on the FFG style of building card combos. But with warscrolls for all the models, I'll probably at least pick up that starter if it's not too expensive.

Yeah, I'm not sure how into the gameplay I'll be but I might buy the initial box and an additional faction or two...so long as they can fit in the box also. No way does this become a main game or anything.

The thing about GW though...I feel like I need to have $50-150 on hand at all times. I mean, they announce something...two weeks later it's on the shelves (shadespire outstanding). I'm not in a place to buy Blightwar. It may even get pushed back to an early '18 purchase...

Light rumor going around that Gorchosen may be going OOP.

I'm not surprised as I'm sure GW would like to funnel players of that type game into the upcoming Shadespire.

Kinda dumb, since it is objectively one of their best designs ever.

But this may be more akin to what Disney does with their movies by putting them back into the "vault" so to speak. Gone for a bit, but not forgotten. Maybe.

I think the scuttlebutt I've been hearing in the last year or so is that everything is going towards a "limited edition" model. Not a "only 500 copies, order today or you're screwed" model, but I think they want to get away from the old model they had with some of their specialist games or even lines like Bretonians, where they hadn't touched them in a decade but still stocked them.

I would be surprised if most of these recent boxed games, including Blightwar, are on their webstore after a year. They're mostly just ways for them to repackage miniatures in a way that appeals to a different audience. Not that some won't be reprinted if they deem there's interest. Space Hulk 3e has seen, what, 3 print runs?

I haven't played Gorechosen, but I'm guessing there's a lot of its engine in the upcoming Shadespire.

Also, besides Shadespire, doesn't seem like there are any upcoming GW boardgames. It felt like GW dropped several over the course of a year, but now focus seems to be back on the minis wargames.

I've come around on the Stormcasts. They aren't the faction for me, but I like their place in the new setting and they ease at which they help people into the hobby. Very easy to paint.
