splitting up the factions like they have allows for better balance. already we are seeing upgrades that might be OP or broken on certain ships, but are faction limited to avoid those interactions.
Also pushes people away from the 'own them all' mentality and focus on a couple of factions instead.
What do I do with my X-Wing 1.0 base boxes? I bought two of these when the game first came out, but, my son didn't like Star Wars as much as I did and they were left on the shelf. Are these now worthless?
if they are original rebel vs imperial boxes...mostly. there are still people out there sticking with 1.0 stuff. Are they willing to purchase/pay shipping? My guess is probably not. Several of the larger stores out there have had pretty deep sales on their 1.0 core sets.
For 2.0, you are looking at people who want to purchase the models to fill out their conversion kits. Unfortunately, the X-wing and Tie Fighter models are ones that weren't served well in the conversion kits. Only 2 X-Wing and 4 Tie Fighter 'conversions' in each kit. so most people have more models than they can convert easily.
If you have force awakens boxes, you might be better off. The conversion kits for those factions have stuff for 4 T-70s and 7 TIE/FOs, so there will be some demand for those models.
