Need a Miniatures Game Recommendation

I'm looking for a good miniatures ruleset that has the following parameters:

1. Is sci-fi themed and generally focused towards small unit combat/adventure/exploration, some light roleplaying elements would be okay.

2. Uses 25mm to 32mm scale figures.

3. Makes use of gridded maps (or tiles) and does not require 3D terrain (i.e. movement is grid based rather then freeform).

4. Can handle more then 2 players, ideally I'd like to be able to get 5 to 6 players to the table at the same time. And could be run either with or without a referee.

5. Downtime with multiple players needs to be very minimal.

Any suggestions?

Have you ever played Mutant Chronicles: Siege of the Citadel?

It comes as close to your request list as anything I'm aware of.

Nope, but I've a friend who has a copy of it, so I'll see if we can't get it to the table sometime soon. Thanks for the recommendation.

Are you after a miniatures game or a boardgame?

Either is fine with me.

Well, if there's any truth to the rumors of a Space Hulk reprint, I'd recommend that.

If you don't mind one that's OoP, though, I'd recommend Legions of Steel. It's probably my favorite sci-fi man-to-man minis game. Aside from that, I don't know, Battletech maybe? The newest edition comes with a bunch of minis, accomodates several players (teams), and is relatively quick and simple. Mutant Chronicles is a pretty good choice given what you're looking for, I guess. I've never been able to get into it, but I hear the campaign game is great with 5 players.

To be honest, it's kinda' slim pickens out there for sci-fi non-tabletop minis games. Both in and out of print.

Heya..I've been trolling this thread. My groups (rpg and Boardgames) don't really get into minis that much. Consequently, I haven't played that much.

I thought I hae seen some home brew conversion stuff for Space Hulk but on an open grid map. I'll have to search around for that. These other systems would have to be 'converted'

I like old mageknight Dungeons, the terrain and manuvering feels like Descent light with action points, terrain modifiers, and special powers.

Modified Heroclix is a blast, though I'd have to write up the home brew rules.

Okko could be played as a space opera game with ery little tweaking.

Star Wars minis didn't really give me the Star Wars vibe thought the special powers of the units are fun.

Unfortunately that's about the extent of my "Grid Minis" experience.

This sounds suspiciously like the Star Wars Minis. They are normal sized minis and use a grid.
