Sure these prices are through the roof ($75 for a rulebook!), but no other company can touch them component wise. If I weren't interested in other types of games, and had an unlimited budget, I could see the draw of going all in. Outstanding.

Impulse control fail. I ordered the dice.
Haha, I caught myself calculating how many I would need for various games. Once I got to Arkham Horror the rational part of my brain kicked in and I closed the webpage. It was a close call though, almost dropped like $60 on dice.

Now, if any of these pieces turned up in a FFG game, it'd add $20 to the retail price.
What's with that Empire dude with the giant badger?

Pretty sure that's supposed to be a bear. Circus attraction or regimental mascot that plays the drums.
Many regiments in the Empire are famous for the totems or mascots that accompany them to battle. The Regimental Mascot is a metal model that incorporates a one-eyed bear carrying a drum and his ugly handler, who carries a basket of half-eaten bones and a hurdy-gurdy - presumably to provide a musical accompaniment for the drum-playing grizzly.

I actually don't think the prices are unreasonable for them considering that they're prepainted and a totally optional premium item, and it really puts some of the silly shit we say has nice production into perspective.
That's a good point. These are optional, premium items.
And now that I think of it, a set of dice for $12 isn't far off what I usually see dice sets going for. And being standard d6s can be used for _any_ game.

But it's still your choice. This has me kind of thinking about not necessarily the miniatures-based product positioning, but about the way it's an a la carte model. The power to spend as much or as little as you want is ultimately in your hands.

I'll have to see them in person before fully pasing judgement, but if they are difficult to see from across the table no serious Warhammer player will use them in games.
It's a major violation of the social wargaming contract to play with dice your opponent can't easily read from across the table.
The last batch of special dice like this GW produced was VERY hard to see across the table and interfered with the smooth flow of games.

Does it have army lists and all or will you still need to buy addition army books?
