I mean COME ON, I don't even spend that much money on individual board games and Magic cards COMBINED...

I wonder what the bill was for all that stuff.

I don't fault people for their hobbies. Clearly this dude is single and doesn't have a family to feed.

I feel like this is what some folks see when I say "Roll a D6."

Nope. His profile says he is married and has 4 children. Painting this stuff (and then selling it) is his business.

Oh, apparently painting miniatures is his job. He does have a family -- four kids and a wife, in fact.

Of course he has kids, the music he's singing is from Disney's Little Mermaid. I should know my kids have watched that film a gajillion times.

One of my friends who does a lot of painting (and sells videos and shit about it) has pretty insane amounts of GW product at his house.

But I always thought that painting and selling minis was a chumps racket. Unless you can paint at a pro level, extremely fast, I don't see how you can make any decent coin.

He takes care of a wife and four kids? By painting and selling minis? I guess the important question is what does wifey do for a living?

I've done a little paint for pay. I was charging $15 a mini. For a decent paint job it would require about an hours work. So I figured $15 an hour. Not enough cash to support a family.

Even at that, $15 is far above market price, I believe. I was doing work for a few college kids with seemingly lots of disposable income. I also provided a few free conversions and other whatnots to justify $15 a mini.

I know there's some rackets out of Asia that charge way less for solely a paint job.

I don't know how this guy is doing it. On top of that, it sounds like he's also got staff.

My aforementioned friend gets a few grand to do a 1500-2000 point army. Usually takes him about a week, and he has another full time job so it's not like he's doing it for 12 hours a day.
