Tell me about Battletech CCG

As you might know, I've decided to look into the Richard Garfield card games I haven't played. I'm a big Netrunner fan, respect though no longer like Magic much and my first play of VTES made me write a 1200 word essay at high hours of the morning. Hence, there's only one game left: Battletech CCG.

There doesn't seem to be much information about this game. Despite lasting longer than Netrunner, there's comparatively less information about it, less fansites and less . It was never printed in another language and cards don't seem as easy to find as old posts indicate they are. There also doesn't seem to be a central place to print proxies of the rarest cards or a website listing typical archetypes. Still, I do want to try it and possibly make some sparring decks to play with a friend. It would also give me some Battletech flavour, which is a game I've always wanted to try but that I don't see myself playing.

It's more of a long-term project compared to VTES, though, so no rush.

Any tips or thoughts you have or would like to share?

I played a little when it came out but don't remember too much about it. I remember that your life is your deck size, so your mechs would basically mill the opponents deck until you were decked. I seem to remember mech speed being really important in terms of interception, but beyond that the details are fuzzy. I liked it at the time, but was really only playing with a few starter decks and didn't really get into deck building or playing beyond the most casual level. I don't even know if I had the rules right.

I never played it much but do have some cards floating around that I can dig out if you are interested.

Another way to get some Battletech flavor is the Lost World dueling books. I was going to link the Flying Buffalo website (Egads they need an update) but looks like they are sold out of everything but the Locust books.

Finally the newish computer game is a good implementation of running a mercenary lance.

I have a few decks from both when I briefly tried it out and when I bought some in a BGG auction. I don't remember much about it, but I remember liking it. I really want to fire up those decks and try it again.
