Conn Con was great. It's safe to say I've been missing out for quite a few years! If anyone is within 2-4 hours of this convention, do yourself a favor and go. The guys from the Fort are just great to hang out with. Big kudos to Loter for introducing me to everyone! Matt, we didn't get a chance to play any games or drink...next time I'm sitting down and having a couple drinks with you.
Oh! The drinks! Christ...I was floored at how lax the hotel was about letting people from the convention just drink their own booze. You can literally walk into the con, whip out a bottle of booze and start pouring shots. Nobody will say boo to you. It's really wild and I wasn't expecting that. Next year...I'm bringing a fully stocked bar! Gimlets for all!
Pro tip for anyone coming to the convention - if you sit down at a table with Jay718 to play a game...prepare to lose. I think I played 3 games with him over the weekend and he won every single one. Yes he even won that long ass game of Imperial 2030. Luckily, he's a great guy and quick with the tequila shots!
I know I missed meeting or hanging out with a couple of you, so hopefully I'll get a chance next time. The NE F:ATies are the real deal...great people. You could sit down at a table, play the driest Euro in existence and they'd still make it a great time. I hope to see everyone again soon.

Yeah I'm sorry I didn't get to hang out a little and play some more stuff with folks. I was just finding my feet. It's definitely going to be a regular event for me, and possibly multiple days as well.

Got in a wide variety of games at ConnCon this year:
Finally got to try a real game of Space Cadets: Away Missions, which was a lot of fun. While it doesn't have the timed aspects of the original Space Cadets games, it definitely has that flavor of things going horribly wrong. We had a mad dash back to the airlock for the victory, which was sweet.
Next up was High Frontier. Haven't played this in a long time, so it was a bit of a refresher game for me. But I really enjoy this one. I'm not sure if having some beer in the middle was the best decision, but factories were built in the asteroids, and astronauts were recovered from Mars (after 15 years!). Really need to explore this title more.
Then tried a few quick hands of a card game prototype I've been working on. It's solid mechanically, but just not fun the way I envisioned it. So I think a retool is definitely in order.
Dragged Loter into two games of Space Cadets: Dice Duel with the new Die Fighter expansion. I love the fighters. He got his fighter all blown up, but we ripped off a piece of the big ship to push him back out into space with a new one. Really, really love the fighters.
Wedged my way into a play of Professor Pugnacious with Eric Summerer and two other hardy souls. First time playing for all of us. What a lousy game. Fiddly, no decisions, and just not fun. A totally derivative deck builder. We let Eric win just to end the game.
Ended the night with a few rounds of a party game I've been toying with, and there was a lot of laughter. It's more of an activity than a game right now, but maybe there's something there.
Sadly had to leave before the PPP extravaganza, but hopefully one year I'll stay over Saturday night.

Dragged nothing, as the joke goes I don't really play games at conventions, but I was super stoked to try the fighters! And it was perfect. It's up there with Chaos in the Old World - Horned Rat, for being just a perfect expansion; no crazy new rules, no bullshit, just a great new way to interact with the existing system and put an interesting spin on what was already going on.
