Would there be any interest for this? I was thinking about the hard to find a game group thread. We could do with or without Skype, I have a headset. It'd be great, in particular, to play a few of the more complex, evening length, 3-5 player euros and AT games that never see the table for me and my groups. Stonecutter and I played a game of Clash of Cultures one night that worked out well but lots of games come to mind: Chaos in the Old World, Runewars (FFG games would need the cards at hand), Merchants and Marauders, Nations... Even something shorter like Innovation or Pax Porfiriana would be fun. Or War of the Ring?
If there is anyone interested, maybe we could find a good night and do it once in a while?
Alternatively, we could do F:AT VASSAL live wargame night if that has more interest...
Late could work for me since this wouldn't be a weekly game or anything, as long as it wasn't Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday night this semester (I teach MWF).
Archipelago does not have a VASSAL module, which totally sucks as that is exactly the kind of game I was thinking about when I posted this thread.
Interested but that late is not possible for me at all. I play Vassal most Sundays with my old game group of friends and some games that work well are X-Wing, Twilight Imperium, Dune, M & M, Wiz War, Formula D, and Thunder Alley. CitOW, Runewars, and Clash of Cultures have modules but I have not played them.
I really recommend you use mics if you guys do this, keep me in the loop eh?
Interesting timing, I was *this close* to cold-emailing a couple people (including you, Steve) last weekend when I was home alone for a couple days to see if I could get a live game of something going.
For longer games, what's worked well for us in the Facebook Wargamers group is just doing multiple sessions--say, a turn or two per night, save, and resume the next week. My availability is usually good from 8:30 PM Central and onward, and for 2P games especially I can often be ready on short notice.
We must be on the same brainwave, Joel, because that's when I was thinking about this. My wife was in bed at like 9PM Saturday, I was looking at my game shelf and thinking "there are a bunch of these games I haven't played in forever because my game group can't handle them, I wonder if anyone is around tonight?"
Sounds like there's some interest. I'm wondering what the best way to coordinate is. I'm tempted to just post here in this thread, but people don't check the thread often enough and it is easy to get it buried. I could call out days and just show? Dunno.
Alright... opening proposal. How is labor day for you guys? The evening, say, 9 or 10 CST? I could also do really late for Barnes and any West Coasters if that's best.
