I want to play a game of Virgin Queen PBEM. I didn't give it enough of a chance and I've only played it once. I love Here I Stand.
Any interest? We need 4 but I'd love 6 so we don't have to worry about non player rules. But I've heard it's great with 4.
Anyway, plan would be to use Dropbox for files, VASSAL for board state. Move at a brisk pace, hopefully a turn a day. Short diplomacy period to not lose interest.
Post here if you want to play. I need to re-read my rules!
Cool, we got 2. IIRC, I played HRE which was an odd (but sort of interesting?) situation. This is the only game on my plate so I won't pull a flake job.
I've sworn off multiplayer online war games because it was like herding cats. I've been in 2 aborted HIS / Virgin Queen and 2 aborted Ti3 online games because it was taking weeks for people to make there turn. I'd join in if you can convince me otherwise.
I hear you. I have been a flake myself. FWIW, Not Sure is like the most reliable player ever and this is the only game I'd be playing. I tend to get swamped when I play more than one VASSAL game and lose the plot.
I also just set up the game and refreshed myself completely on the rules.
I appreciate that, and always thought you were reliable as well. I think I've finished every Vassal game I've started over the years. I've been slow before, but never out. I'm also usually good for a few "hey you're up" emails in a row.
When we had a F:AT HIS groove going we used to have moves flying by at about a full impulse a day. I'm not sure we can hit that pace anymore, but was it fun to get some games in.
I'm also not playing anything else right now, although my new job has me scrambling a lot.
Would love to make this work, but also am a little worried because I am also busy with life. I can't promise daily, but 2-3 turns a week should be doable. Also, I am in Europe, so timezones.
Fellow world leaders, I have to bail. Something came up IRL and all my brainpower is needed elsewhere. No crisis, mind, just work stuff, and I realise I don't have that much time to spare right now.
I am very sorry about this, but at least the game hasn't started yet. I haven't given up on the dream, but this summer just isn't working. Have fun.
