Damn, how much was shipping on CW? The weight is "just" 11 pounds, but the size tips it over into all kinds of surcharges...

Regarding Earth Reborn, don't know anything about those other issues, but, can anyone provide an answer as to why there wasn't an expansion released providing more factions? I wish there were more factions.

I don't think it sold well. I got it when it was on Tanga for like $20.

Yep. And there was some bidding in the game but there was no place to put your workers. Others were put off by the graphic design, maybe. It's also 2p only. Maybe if this came out today on KS it could make a hundred million dollarz. And have enough figures to boot!

Edit - Also, I think it's funny that you compare Tannhauser and Earth Reborn - which don't share a single mechanic in the specific sense, not one, but you don't think Cthulhu Wars and Chaos in the Old World are related at all. Mr. Ruth, you're out to lunch.

For the record I think Tannhauser is a fine game and a lot of fun, it's just not the nearly flawless Earth Reborn.

For you to say that they don't share a single specific mechanic means that you don't know shit about Tannhauser, or are being intentionally argumentative to hold upon high your favorite game of the genre.

In any event, you're wrong on a level I can't begin to explain.

I'm apparently not alone in the comparison.

I'll just leave this here:
superflycircus.com/2012/05/earth-reborn-...e-with-kitty-cigars/

I've played Tannhauser twice with first edition rules. I've played Earth Reborn about 15ish times.

What mechanic is the same? I'm not talking about "attacking other players" I'm talking specific mechanisms.

Movement/board is totally different. LOS as well. Firing arcs too.

Equipment system and searching to find gear is absolutely different.

No IPS line or torture or anything in Tannhauser.

Tannhauser is only scenario based right? No SAGS or randomized mission goals.

Attacking is not the same at all. Not the same custom dice or damage system.

No Spy Points thing or anything like that.

Tannhauser has Overwatch but it's not the same as the command bid in Earth Reborn at all.

Tannhauser's activation system is nothing like the tile system in Earth Reborn.

They're similar in theme and they're both tactical minis games. That's it.

Oh, Lord above. Buddy, it's not even the same sport. Now I totally get it.

Nuff said, brother.

I keep seeing Cheaty Mages floating around. Is it any good?

I would describe it as Colossal Arena after it's had a few drinks. It's more about the take-that card play than the actual betting I think. CA has the same thing, but it's somewhat more strategic.

I have Colossal Arena as well and like it a little better. I don't play either game a whole bunch.

Out:
Catacombs + expansions (D&D fanart edition)
Memoir 44 Breakthrough (had an extra board)
Space Cadets (original)
Sid Meier's Civ: Wisdom & Warfare

In:
Runebound: Mists of Zanaga
Dungeon Twister and a bunch of expansions
Evolution: Flight
Power Grid + Robots expansion.

I think I'm done with math trades and BGG transactions for awhile. My copy of Evolution: Flight "KS edition" came with 3 decks and the starting player token missing (so basically the regular version with a couple extra promos), probably because they got cannibalized into the base set that he also traded away and didn't bother to check. The frustration with this trade combined nicely with the nuisance of a BGG market sale that I cancelled because the dude was charging $12 shipping on a $4 item. I think I've reached the end of the line on BGG. Time to take the train back to Grand Central and play some games.

You'll be much happier once you use BGG for picture references and rules clarifications rather than as a community.

Funny, I've had a couple less than perfect math trades as well. One sent me a Diplomacy that he stated was the version with wooden pieces, and it came with plastic(he later fixed the issue), and another one sent me a copy of Republic of Rome he said was complete, only to tell me after the math trade it was actually missing the rule book...Some lazy fuckers out there not verifying what they are actually trading.

In most part my trades have been good, but still.

I am sticking with only Auction listings, as I've gotten some crazy good deals, using this site: bggauctions.workingasintended.com I'm able to track my wishlist on auctions. And it works really well.

But Math trades I've staved off. Too many burns.

The aggregator is bad ass, but look in the metalist for people that linked to a game instead of their auction- they aren't aggregated and thus get less traffic, less bids, and ultimately cheaper prices.
