What BOARD GAMES are you TRADING?

Traded away the last of my P:ACG promos, effectively removing the entirety of Rise of the Runelords from my collection, apparently just in time for the digital version.

Easiest math trade shipping ever.

Picked up Relic.

I traded away Agricola (Man, did that hurt to do) and got Shadows Over Camelot for the probably fifth time.

Hoping it will remain untoadified this time.

I decided to consolidate my two player card games and just get that Phoenix one everyone is raving about, so I was selling Blue Moon Legends to the owner of our former neighborhood game store. Then I asked him what happened to the old stock and found out that he still has that copy of Close Action that I'd been eyeing for about four years, so we worked out a trade.

Project Acquire Obscure, Difficult Games I Know I Won't Play continues.

It has been three months and he hasn't brought the game by yet. He lives about 25 miles away. Hmm.

out: Fairy Tale, Elevenses
in: Mottainai

There's no reason for me to own Mottainai. My main opponent already has it. But it's such an interesting game that, like Impulse before, I want my own copy.

How would you rank Mottaini among the other Chudyk card games ( INNOVATION, IMPULSE, GLORY TO ROME )

Not having Mott, and having played a fair bit of INNOVATION LATELY, I'd say:

GLORY TO ROME

INNOVATION

IMPULSE

I like it more than GtR, but I'm not that big of a fan of GtR. I feel like it could have used some editing. That said, every time I've played GtR it was either a learning game for someone or may as well have been cause no one had played in a while, so it always seems to go one for freaking ever. It's not huge around here.

Innovation is a game I admire and wish I enjoyed more, but I never feel like I'm doing anything in it except moving cards around.

I love Impulse and think it's a great game.

Mottainai still has one or two elements I'd probably lose if I were publishing it, but I think it takes the GtR engine and finally makes it work a little better and quicker.

As much as I like his other designs, I can't get behind the theme for Mottaini.

A couple of weeks ago, I traded my Combat Commander Europe/Med/Resistance stuff for Merchants and Marauders, the expansion, and Hostage Negotiator and I think all of the first-wave KS add-ons. Impressively, I've already played both M&M and HN.

Out: Poseidon's Kingdom, Ultimate Warriorz, Spheres of Influence, PnP Productions Civ/Adv Civ

In: Bunch of Heroscape Terrain, Marvel Heroscape, Heroscape Orm's Return, a worn copy of HeroQuest to add on to my decent copy, HQ Kellar's Keep, HQ Return of the Witch Lord

I've got MegaCiv now to replace my PnP Productions game and the rest I won't miss, so I'm pretty stoked about a bunch more Heroscape and HeroQuest stuff.

Ooh, I wanted that Orm's Return.

Anyway, got rid of Isle of Skye. Not sure WTF I was thinking there. I don't need Castles of Mad King Ludwig in my Carcassonne.

Picked up The Cave instead, out of curiosity. Also snagged a copy of the old Descent Quest Compendium (for a gift cert)

I'm with you on Isle of Skye. I was not impressed while everyone else around me was loving it. Very OK I guess.

The Cave has been on my list to check out for a long time. Hear it's one of the best exploration focused games.

This had interesting quest ideas and the intent was good, but it had absolutely no proofreading and probably very little playtesting at all. FFG just sitting on their laurels and trying to sell us a POS. The 40-odd page errata and FAQ for this product speaks for itself.

I have that book. I think we played one quest out of it. The only reason I still have it is that mine is signed by Kevin Wilson, and he wrote "Have fun storming the castle!"
