This had interesting quest ideas and the intent was good, but it had absolutely no proofreading and probably very little playtesting at all. FFG just sitting on their laurels and trying to sell us a POS. The 40-odd page errata and FAQ for this product speaks for itself.

Yeah, I've heard about the jankiness of most of it. I basically just wanted it to flip through and check out some of the ideas. I know Selinker's scenario in particular is supposed to have problems, but I'm actually curious to check it out and whatever stuff Corey and worked on as well. I figured I still have almost everything else for first edition besides some promos; might as well check out the book.

I sometimes think you and Black Barney are the same person.

There's a massive trade going on right now. I like selecting games to trade and weighting them in relation to each other far too much. Math trades are a machine for cataloging my wants and preferences. I'm currently trying to get the following games, but it's a fishing expedition because I don't have much worth trading:
  1. Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle
  2. --I finally read the books, and my kids are Potter nerds.
  3. Thunder Alley
  4. --Love racing games.
  5. Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn
  6. --Teen son keeps asking about it after we played it once.
  7. Paths of Glory
  8. --I keep buying these heavy wargames that have amazing ratings, and never play them.
  9. Hannibal: Rome vs. Carthage
  10. --Gary Sax and others recommend it, hard.
  11. TIME stories
  12. --I think the kids will like it.
  13. Betrayal at House on the Hill
  14. --Played this once with my son and had a great time. He keeps asking about it. That was a year ago.
  15. Captain Sonar
  16. --I don't even have eight friends.
  17. Dragon Rage
  18. --Gary Sax does not like this one, but I think it will fly with the kids.
  19. Baseball Highlights Super Deluxe
  20. Mice and Mystics
  21. --RPG, without all the boring stuff.
  22. Dawn of the Zeds
  23. --Just looks good.
  24. Eldritch Horror
  25. --Son will play this.
  26. Roll for the Galaxy
  27. TRR with extra maps
  28. --for the family
  29. Firefly
  30. -we just watched the series as a family. Including my 12-year-old daughter.
  31. A Few Acres of Snow
  32. --I refuse to read the threads that tell how to cheat.
  33. Gloomhaven
  34. Warriors of God
  35. --Another wargaming recommendation.
  36. The Grizzled
  37. --My F:AT geekbuddies love this.
  38. Space Hulk: Death Angel
  39. --Someone on here loves it.

Fun fact: selecting this list and then clicking on the "list" button formatted everything automagically as a list.

I have a sealed copy of Avalon Hill's Nexus Ops that I am trying to trade for a like condition copy of Black Fleet since FFG canceled my order during the black Friday sale.

If you scored an extra copy during that time and want a compulsory AT classic in trade hit me up.

Are the extras needed? And, if they are, then how do I acquire them on the cheap? ;-)

I think they are important but I am also fanatical. I don't have Valkia or Skaar yet.

The Bloodsecrator and Bloodstoker you can get for <$10 on eBay- they are in the AoS starter box and people part them out. The others are $15-$30 depending on where you look. The Slaughterpriest was free in White Dwarf but those are long gone.

Oooooh, Warriors of Japan! I grossly over-valued my copy of Gulo Gulo and walked away empty handed.

It depends on how much you like the game.

Do you:

Like the game as an okay distraction on occasion?
Or
Can't wait until the next time you play it again and want to explore everything it offers?

If you only answered yes to the first one, then skip em.
You can still skip em even if you are ravenous by just using one of the included fighters and applying the rules to an expanded card with "counts as". It works around the GW tax until you're confident that paying it is worthwhile.

The expanded '3 vs. 1' content in the white dwarf is actually pretty interesting, but it does make the game last longer since the 3 can choose other fighters on the 6 result after death and begin again fully charged. One of those games took two full hours against Skarr since he refused to go down, the other 3 were also fighting each other while fighting Skarr, and all 8 fighters saw play. The guy who won had "Sir Whips-A-Lot". Never under estimate the power of hand control.

Any of you UK FATies need to sign up for the UK Math Trade, every two months, next one in April (I know MattDP is in as I ended up with his TI3 last month). Currently mostly eurogamers so I don't get many hits but do get the odd decent game through it, City Of Remnants was one I'm glad I ended up with (plus Dead of Winter and Eldritch Horror have got a lot of table-time in the last 6 months).

I was thinking back to when I traded this with you. I wondered if you enjoyed Titan. Incidently, I really enjoyed Specter Ops, but Homeland was pretty meh.

Wow, did I fuck up.

I traded Elchfest for Castle Panic Wizard's Tower. Well, I was absolutely going to, but when I was looking in the box to ensure that the english rules were in there, I realized that my kids must've lost one of the six disks.

THEY HAD ONE JOB.

To make matters worse, I was out of town for a few days prior to this realization and I GOT HIS END. So, now I'm sitting on dude's game and I have a 5/6ths complete game to ship. I offered to 1) buy his game at current market price plus his shipping to me (25$) or 2) send him the incomplete game plus $17.00 so his game's cost is covered AND he gets the game, plus six replacement disks that I have lying around, which are the correct diameter but the incorrect height (which doesn't matter).

I'd call myself a cunt but I lack the warmth and depth.

I absolutely adore City of Remnants.
