Anyone willing to go to Barnes & Noble for me?

I'm not quite sure what's happened, but GW's Bladeborn was in stock in the UK for about a week before it sold out. I missed pulling the trigger because I didn't want it to get caught in the Christmas post and arrive while I was away and now there's none left and apparently no plans to ever produce more.

So I'm considering paying someone to buy Bladeborn and Blitz Bowl Volume 1 in the US for me and ship it across the Atlantic.

Would anybody be willing to take this on for me? Is there anything else US-only that might be worth my asking to pick up at the same time?

The plastic stop sign version of Can't Stop seems to only be available in the US.

I've done this before but be prepared for some sticker shock at the pricing of international postage. I suspect you'll be paying almost as much for that as for the game.

FYI

I bought the second season of Blitz Bowl during the 2020 holidays for a UK buddy. The game was 50 USD, and shipping was 75.

Yikes. That's more than I was expecting. Checking postal sites & international shipping via Ebay I was expecting something more in the range of $40-60 to cover the weight of both. Was it some kind of priority shipping or just slowest & cheapest?

You might be out of luck if you are specifically looking for Blitz season one. That was clearanced last year (or even the year before?) and never came back. Season two has been on clearance in various areas, so time is likely limited on that.

Eagle Gryphon is about to put out a new edition with a NEOPRENE mat, which is like the Italian leather of board games. Maybe that will be more available.

If GW were doing Can’t Stop it would retail for $125, they would market it to the high heavens, that clown over on Spikey Bits would make a gushing video about, they’d do preorders and then be all like “whoops, we only made 10 copies!”

I would be more likely to buy it if it were actually Italian leather.

The original plastic stop sign was introduced to the family this Christmas with great fanfare

I'd pay a lot of BitCoins for a human leather version of the Chaos in the Old World map. Like... a lot of BitCoins.

It's still available on Ebay. As part of the deal, if I go ahead with this, I'd pay the extra shipping to get it to your house.

Presuming these things weigh about 2kg each, can someone give me a realistic postage estimate from the UK to the US, the cheapest, slowest option?

Blitz Bowl never released in the UK. The only copies here were imported so are unlikely to go for very cheap. Bladeborn seems too new and too scarce to have tons of used copies floating about. Plus the secondary market is much weaker over here in general.

GW seem to have printed about a dozen copies of Bladeborn and called it a day.

It was available in one UK retailer online for about a week before it vanished, and as best I can tell from speaking to the retailer no copies were ever delivered to stores. I asked three times to get a review copy and never did.

I don't really know what happened. Apparently, there are no plans to print further copies. It's very sad: at least I have Blitz Bowl season 2 but I'll likely never see Bladeborn, and I almost got a copy: only delayed buying it because I didn't want a neighbour to have to take the package for me.

If there's a company in the world I have any brand loyalty to, it's GW. I grew up with it. But what they do with these boxed board games is infuriating. My suspicion is that they're an afterthought to get rid of overproduced miniature lines that aren't selling and they're often really weak affairs that seem to have been barely playtested. Then, on occasion, they push out a gem and it sells out in an instant, never to be seen again.

Fireteam, for instance, is great. I've seen a lot of folks online bemoaning that there's no fast, accessible version of 40k now that Kill Team has become bloated but Fireteam fits that slot nicely. It's got lots of replay value with different scenarios and is expandable with other squads from the 40k universe. If they expanded that roster, even with some WD material, it'd be great. But they've got zero interest in it now it's out in the wild.
