F:AT ARMS TRADING #2 -- RESULTS POSTED!

More
11 May 2009 14:05 - 01 Jun 2009 15:43 #28382 by jeb
This thread runs a "math trade"--a computer assisted algorithm to determine the best possible combination of trades so everyone ends up with games they want, even if not trading one-to-one. People will submit cryptically formatted lists to me that I will give to Lord Humongous, who will tell me who trades to whom at the end.

An example would be:

Jeb WANTS Klonoa for Wii and HAS War of the Ring
Barnes WANTS War of the Ring and HAS some spare change
Uba WANTS some spare change and HAS Klonoa for Wii.

Lord Humongous would tell me that I should give him all my gas and to send my War of the Ring to Barnes. Barnes will send his spare change to Uba. Uba will send Klonoa to me. Everyone ends up happy.

Lord Humungous is concerned for our happiness, and wants to assure folks that are new to these kind of trades that you can't get something back that you don't actually want, and want specifically for that item. If no one offers anything you want, just don't submit a want list for that item--it will not be traded away.

+++++ RULES +++++

You can post games you are willing to trade away immediately. To do so, in your FIRST reply to this thread: Enter your name, your location, and your games and their condition. You can edit this reply until the "closed for submission" time to add more games, but once I add the game to the master list in this post, YOU CANNOT REMOVE IT until the trades are finalized.

e.g.
GAMES FOR TRADE: Jeb Adams, 91301, USA -- I will pay the first $20 to ship everywhere.
  • SUIKODEN II for PS2 -- New in shrink. Yeah right.
  • GOA -- Unplayed, thank God. Throw-ins: Other shitty games.

The closed for submission time is 28 MAY 2009, 3:00 PM PDT (GMT -7).

Want lists for each item you've added to the list are due by 29 MAY 2009, 11:00 AM PDT (GMT -7). Results will be posted when Lord Humongous looks them over and decides our collective fate. Oh great is he!

You can submit Want Lists early, and are encouraged to do so. I will accept Want Lists via PM to my account here at F:AT . If you can't figure out how to send a PM here, you don't get to trade.

This isn't a no shipping trade. And despite the name, people from interstellar space do participate. Please state your shipping status in your Games For Trade post. THIS IS IMPORTANT. Shipping is a big deal. If you live on Arcturus, and you put a game from Spokane on your Want List, BE PREPARED TO PAY FOR A SUBSTANTIAL CHUNK OF THE COST OF HAVING GAMES SHIPPED TO YOU. If someone offers "free shipping globally!" they are going to pay a frigging fortune shipping games--that's their prerogative. On the other hand, you cannot opt out of shipping internationally. You should set an upper bound on what you're willing to spend, and chase the recipient for the extra you'll need to get it to her. ( Another way to look at it: You will pay for having games shipped to you, but many games come with a cash bonus to offset the shipping cost. )

I am the ultimate arbiter of any disputes. By signing up some games here, you are submitting to this rule. I don't care if you don't like my decision. I won't play favorites--seriously, who gives a shit? Feel free to be a huge douche and appear as the first name on the Bad Trader List .

When adding games for trade, you must describe the condition of the game, and note if anything is missing. If not noted, the game will assumed to be complete and in good condition. Also note if the game is not an English language edition. Please verify that you actually have possession of the game before adding a game to this list for trade. Seriously. Go to your garage and look at the game. Maybe rats ate some pieces or something. TAKE A LOOK. If it's a video game, note what system it's for and whether or not you have the box and manual and so forth. Lean towards being more informative rather than less. LORD OF THE RINGS is not super helpful, for example. The Knizia boardgame? Some flavor of video game? A nice set of the books? Flesh that thing out or Lord Humongous will destroy you.

Please use the following format for your Want Lists:

(FAT_Username) Your_Game_Number : Game_wanted_#1 Game_wanted_#2 Game_wanted_#3 &c.
A possible list might look like this:

(jeb) 1 : 14 18 19
(jeb) 11 : 14 18 19 22 26 7
(jeb) 12 : 14
(jeb) 16 :

This means I have four games to trade away: 1, 11, 12 and 16. My game 16 is very dear to me and there was nothing I wanted to trade for. Oh well. Game 12 I could part with for game 14. Game 1 could go for Game 14, 18, or 19. And Game 11 I want to move along, so I'll take any of the six games listed for it.

Lord Humongous could of course use his overwhelming bulk to decide the trades, but in the interest of transparency, has opted for TradeMaximizer 1.4 to calculate the trades. Here are the TradeMaximizer options he'll use:

LINEAR-PRIORITIES: Use the 1,2,3,4,... priority scheme.
SMALL-STEP=1: Adjust how priorities change between successive entries in a want list. (The default value is 1.)
BIG-STEP=9: Adjust how priorities change for each semicolon in a want list. (The default value is 9.)
REQUIRE-COLONS: Make colons mandatory for every want list.
REQUIRE-USERNAMES: Make usernames mandatory for every want list.
ITERATIONS=100: If set to a number larger than 1, then use randomization to find num different solutions, keeping the solution with the best sum-of-squares metric. Note that all of the solutions will have the same number of trades and the same total cost.

If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll try to answer them quickly.

TRY TO KEEP THIS THREAD TO BUSINESS, DISCUSSION AVAILABLE IN THE BLOG.

OFFICIAL GAME LIST:

See postings in the thread for conditions/throw-in bonuses, shipping info. Each user's post detailing their games is linked in the Wantlist section at the end of this post.

RESULTS

Get in touch with the people you are SENDING TO and RECEIVING FROM. Use PMs to start off, but I STRONGLY recommend moving the address exchanges and so forth to email and/or the BGG Trade screen --it makes the bookkeeping easier. Ask your recipients about what shipping vendor they prefer--some are better than others for various reasons. If they don't care, that doesn't mean you can slap some tape on there and ship it out. Send your games in a timely manner. Send your games well packed. Send it with TRACKING. It's worth it.

Please recall that I am the ultimate arbiter of disputes. I hope everyone is cool, but if you send something without tracking and it doesn't show up--I'm going to make you pay for a replacement and/or send it again. TRACKING TRACKING TRACKING. Feel free to take your chances, it's up to you. Insurance is worth considering.

If you are sending internationally, plan on spending a little extra time on the paperwork. You are sending a GIFT, its nominal value is $1. This keeps your recipient from getting super-humped by import taxes.

In sum, DON'T BE A DICK.

ITEMS FOR TRADE

Jeb Adams -- 91301, USA (Southern California)

I'll pay the first $20 shipping worldwide. I've shipped FFG coffin boxes domestically for $22 or so, so don't sweat it--I'm not coming after you for $2.

MAGIC: THE GATHERING -- One (1) Unlimited CHAOS ORB. Condition is fine . Back shows some whitening, marks in oblique light. Look at this thing . Come ON, that is cool.
DISGAEA: HOUR OF DARKNESS for PS2 -- Plays great, complete. Box, manual, the whole shebang. An Atlus, uh, RPG/tactical/board thing with demons and what not. Hard to categorize, but it's a blast.
PRO EVOLUTION SOCCER 2008 for WII -- Plays great, complete, box, manual. Awesome -awesome- controls. And pretty much every decent team worldwide represented, even if by another name . This one has C. Ronaldo on the cover.
ZELDA PACKAGE --
  • LINK's CROSSBOW TRAINING for WII -- Plays great, complete--"gun" controller, box, manual, game disc, all included.
  • THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: TWILIGHT PRINCESS for WII --Plays great, complete, box, manual.
(these trade together!)
DEALER'S CHOICE -- 1972 wheeler dealer board game. Game looks like it's from 1972, thrift quality: faded, some scuffs. Complete though. Even has the inserts that seem to have no purpose whatsoever.
ACQUIRE -- The crummy looking AH version sold for cheap at B&N. Still in shrink!
VIKTORY II -- Played, complete, in good condition, everything is bagged.

I have a bunch of stuff to trade. All of the video games are not in shrink, but have manuals unless otherwise noted. Sometimes you will even get a bonus french manual! I am in Vancouver, Canada and will pay $20 shipping.

Board Games:

Shifting Sands: Complete, punched and bagged, slight bend on the board, nothing very signifigant.

Video Games:
PS2:

Ico: Case, game, manual missing I'm afraid, price tag was poorly removed and remnants remain

SMT Digital Devil Summoner 2: Case game and manual, again low quality tag removal on my part

Disgaea 2: Cursed Memories: Case game and manual, last of the price tagged games thankfully

Persona 3 (NOT FES): Some kind of jumbo pack with the case, game, manual and an art book. It had a CD of the soundtrack that I cannot turn up anywhere.

SMT: Nocturne: As mentioned upthread this is NOT the super rare original version, it is some kind of reissue, but if you wanted to play Nocturne, this is your chance. Case, manual, game all complete

Nintendo DS:

Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords: Case, game and manual

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift: Case game, manual

The World Ends With You: Case, game, manual

Nintendo Wii:

Super Paper Mario: Case, game, manual

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn: Case, game, manual

Super Mario Galaxy: Case, game, manual, all complete

Matt Loter - 06905, USA CT

I'll pay the first $15 shipping worldwide.

Netrunner Starter Deck Set #1 - Never played, bought a case of them for myself, this is the last of them. One runner and one corporation deck in a little double sized deck box.
Netrunner Starter Deck Set #2 - Never played, bought a case of them for myself, this is the last of them. One runner and one corporation deck in a little double sized deck box.
Mille Bornes - Take your pick, I have two and would trade either the same. Either a classic 60's edition with some typical wear or a new redone edition with minimal play.
Feudo - Played twice. Complete but not bagged or anything.
Cosmic Encounter - AH edition. Played but in good shape. It does the job but the FFG edition replaced it for me.
Snorta - new in shrink. I think you make animal sounds or something, whatever.

All Video Games are complete in original packaging:

Wii-
Metroid Prime 3
Super Paper Mario
Elebits - it's actually really fun, just doesn't have much replay value. Great for the kids!
Call of Duty 3

DS-
Jam Sessions
Warhammer 40k Squad Command
Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time
Metroid Prime Hunters
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

XBox 360-
Marvel Ultimate Alliance/Forza 2 - packaged together in one case.

Michael Fralish - 19341, USA - East Coastah

I'll pay the first $15 shipping worldwide.

CONFLICT OF HEROES: AWAKENING THE BEAR! - That's right, bitches! CoH. Nice game, but ToI is gettin' all my love. I will throw in the #6 board. All peices included, everything is near mint, blah blah. Trade me something good for it.

GRAND ILLUSION: THE 1914 CAMPAIGN IN THE WEST - GMT game about the opening days of WWI. All counters are punched and bagged (they are lightly clipped too). Great condition.

OASIS - Uberplay. Camel meeples. Alan Moon. You all probably will hate on it, but hey! even fucking Reef Encounter got a bite last time. I will probably throw in something else with this too. Don't know what yet, though.

GHOST STORIES - Insanely hard co-op game from Asmodee. Wu Feng will slap yo momma!

PLAYSTATION 2 CONSOLE with a couple of WWII shooters - don't laugh, but yes, you can have my functional PS2 console and few games if you want it. It is a PS2 slim with one controller (not Sony) and one memory card. Games are: Medal of Honor: Frontline, Medal of Honor: Rising Sun, and Justic League Heroes (not original box, no manual).

I have a slightly lame list this time, not like the powerhouse one I offered a few months ago. Traded and sold off an awful lot of dead weight recently.

But I have the following:

CONQUEST OF PARADISE- Good GMT civilization game about Polynesia. No one will play it with me. Pretty much completely brand new.

UNHAPPY KING CHARLES- GMT CDWG about Ollie Cromwell and Co., looks great but it's way down on the playlist for Billy Motion and I. Unpunched.

PARTHENON- Good Z-Man Games adventure/civ building game...bought it from a friend who got laid off, didn't really want it. I like it, but it's one of those that doesn't quite fit on the Shelves of the Mighty. Excellent condition.

REEF ENCOUNTER- In the last Arms Trade, Metalface13 sent me this as some kind of joke or something. Unpunched Z-Man games edition.

WARHAMMER DAWN OF WAR GOLD plus DARK CRUSADE- PC games, you moron. Manuals and cases included.

NEVERWINTER NIGHTS DIAMOND plus NEVERWINTER NIGHTS 2- More PC games, you moron. Literally a zillion hours of old school (3rd edition) D&D fun. Everything ever released for NWN 1 is included.

A random trader will get MAG-BLAST 3rd edition thrown in their box as well.

I'll pitch for shipping $15 and under. I live in Decatur, GA.

Was this supposed to be a board game math trade? This list reminds me of the 'unloved' bin at Electronics Boutique or Best Buy. Actually even Best Buy carried Age of Mythology the Board Game at one time...

Can I add more games? Theres two due dates and one of them has past already.

May 28th is the end date for game submissions.

I've got some boardgames on there, and there are some pretty hard to find PS2 games up so far--I don't know where you shop, and but SMT-anything isn't falling off trees around me.

I have the reissue of SMT: Nocturne as well if anyone is interested. It isn't the valuable version but it is still the game. Let me know if I should add it to the list.
