John Company planning for weekend? Weeknight?

Hey all, I'd like to do another John Company game. Ritual has dictated it is on Saturday noon pacific but that may be keeping us limited to 3 players, Not Sure, Mezike, and I. If anyone else would like to play but can't because of the time or day, definitely post here and we can work on it.

I’m happy to be a part of these games but don’t want the workaround for the time difference to be holding anyone back from joining. Noon Pacific is 8pm here in the UK so I can play at that time any day, but equally happy for other people to get involved even if it means the timing is too late for me personally to be involved. A bigger player base would be good.

Any interest in getting another game going at some point? I'm keen to try the post-monopoly game to really open up the box on this one.

I'd be up for it. Saturdays are still the best time for me for this length of game.

Also still in. Pretty open timing-wise.

That is good for me. I'll be sure to brush up on post monopoly.

Shall we do the no monopoly what-if scenario? I think it's about the same length as the monopoly only intro.

Sounds good to me.

A couple of days ago Cole was talking again with Heavy Cardboard about JC and 2nd Ed development, it kicks in just after the hour mark. There's no show-and-tell so if interested you can just listen in like a podcast. Despite his protestations it sounds like the game is indeed moving more toward a Pax Pamir style reboot. He particularly focuses on how he wants to change the segue between early game and post-monopoly in order to make a more natural trigger into deregulation.

I always find Cole fascinating to listen to, particularly when he explains his motivations to shape mechanical processes around player experience. Those are the kind of games I want to play, experience first, which is maybe why I enjoy the conversation so.

Sounds like something I'll buy but might also keep the 1st ed of, thanks for the heads up.

edit: wow, they're talking big changes. e.g. eliminating nepotism mechanisms.

Hmm, I'll have to give that a listen.

Sounds like I'm also keeping my first edition, just like Pamir. I should probably buy or build "An Infamous Traffic" at some point, just to complete the set.

Also in for Saturday, and I'll sharpen up on the post-monopoly start scenario.

I think Pax Pamir 2 was a big and necessary improvement over the original. That said, I’m hanging onto JC 1st ed til I play the new one.
