Here I Stand

So, it looks like we've got four definately interested in PBEM (Me, lolcaust, Not sure, Partizan) and two who might be interested (drmabuse, plus a friend of mine who just loves HIS).

Anthony, do you want to bite on this for sure or not? Anyone else intersted? If we can get six for definate, I'll go about trying to find us a referee ... unless one of the more experienced players here cares to volunteer.

I'd also love to play, but I've never played before, and I don't own the game. If there's a slot open and you'd be willing to put up with a complete noob, I'd be up for it.

Well, depending on how this turn comes out, we may have a lot of people free to play another game.

Okay, well that's six then. I'll set about looking for a GM.

I'm not sure about the actual mechanics of playing HIS on VASSAL but I am familiar with HIS and ACTS. I can act as a GM if you all like.

Yes please. I've taken the look at the Vassal mod and it looks pretty self-explanatory.

Shall I leave it up to you to set up, or do you need to collect email addresses etc etc?

I'll get us set up but I'll need some info first. Ok the interested parties are:

MattDP - I have his ACTS ID
Partizan - got his ACTS ID
Stonecutter

lollocaust - got his ACTS ID

We'll be using VASSAL for the map and ACTS to handle the cards and die rolls. VASSAL has a new 3.1.0 version out and the HIS module is version 1.1. You can get all that at:

If no-one objects then I'd like to limit my choice of sides to one which involves learning a minimum of new rules. In my case that would be the Papacy, the Protestants or the Ottomans. I played the Papacy in my last game, so I'm familiar with the religious struggle rules and I also went over the Ottoman rules since they seemed the most likely to impact directly on my play.

I don't care about sides, I'll be rules-cramming for anything I play. Noob-friendly is friendly to me.

If I had the choice, I would like to play England or France, and would prefer to avoid the Hapsburgs, but my preferences are not very strong by any means.
