Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)

Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

It's more approachable, it's IN PRINT and has been for pretty much all this time, it's got expansions galore over several iterations, and you can play it twice in the time it takes for one game of Dune.

Couldn't have said it better.

Cosmic Encounter

All of human history has coalesced into the single point of gaming perfection that is Dune.

Cosmic Encounter is the mind killer...

Me too, but the answer he points to is Dune.

Expansions are the dog food of the gaming world. Dune, out of the box is a coherent, complete, compelling package.

Even Dune's publishing history is the stuff of legend.

DUNE

After half a dozen plays of Cosmic, I guess I don't get it, because I'd rather play something else.

Shiiiiiiiit!

I LOVE both games equally, but as Dune only hits the table once a year for a handful of people and Cosmic allows more of my buddies to play on a more regular basis, I'm gonna have to go with Cosmic.

I'm gonna give the nod to Cosmic because of how accessible it is for a conflict game, and for the replayability.

I wouldn't put either in the top 5. But I'll go with Dune because I can choose who to attack all the time and it's more of an event. Cosmic can hit the table more often which is all the more reason to be more excited about a night of Dune.

It's also much less abstract then Cosmic, although both are pretty abstract, and if I'm voting best AT game of all time that is a big deal.

Never played either one, never felt the need to.
