Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)
Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.
This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.
Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;
Two games enter! One game leaves!
Trashdome: Sweet 16 for War Games

I love the PB/PL/AIW family but they're purely solo affairs for me. There are a lot of cool variants out there and at least 2 different companies are cranking out die-cut counters [Camelot Games' are some of the nicest counters I've come across; I bought a Dune set from them because mine are pretty shot], so someone must still be interested in it besides me...SuperflyTNT wrote:
PB and PL I almost never see played anywhere.

It kind of reflects the lack of a new naval game hitting the market since CoA published Close Action a decade or so ago. I get the sense that anyone interested in anything other than War Galley will have to either play a game published in the early 90s or go the miniatures route. You have any decent suggestions?mikoyan wrote: There is a disturbing lack of Naval games on this list.

#2. Paths of Glory
#3. Combat Commander
#4. Here I Stand
#5. Napoleon's Triumph
#11. Advanced Squad Leader -- I'd rather play Valor & Victory or Squad Leader, but it's the better of the two.
#7. Command & Colors: Ancients
#8. Maria -- not the groggiest, but Maria is doing things other games aren't. Maria is one nice little package.

A family I'd forgotten about. And I wonder if 1805 would make the cut, too. Good call...

Are all the folks not voting for EastFront basing their opinion of it on some other Columbia block game they may have played? Because seriously, EastFront's awesome.

Silent War's good, too. Solitaire, though...

any of the Fleet series but those all came out in the 80's/90's. Flying Colors was pretty decent. The Plan Orange series was decent too. But not sure when any of those came out.

Not a matter of when but "who" in that case. Those were Avalanche Press games, no? I'm one of those guys who AP and Decision Games (and MMP at several points in semi-recent history) claim don't exist--people who refuse to buy games that don't have some level of PBEM support, so I completely forgot they even existed. But, I do think they're recent. Shame AP is so far behind the curve there as there really is a dearth of naval gaming on the market and they have the bulk of it...
