Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)

Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

Christ, Vote: Dominion in a landslide. Puzzle Strike sucks.

Sooo, the two least thematic DBG's end up in the final on Fortress:AT !?!

So be it, Rune Age is my protest vote.

Puzzle Strike is actually pretty thematic--simulating Super Puzzle Fighter, of course.

Seriously, this. Dominion is simply the better game.

Wanna see how thematic Puzzle Strike is? There's this chip that gives you one of each resource. Obviously we call it:

Along the same lines, here is how thematic Tide of Iron is:

You don't have to like Puzzle Strike or its theme, but the idea that you can prove how unthematic it is by posting a picture of a single component is pretty silly. Thematic feeling is about the whole experience, not isolated components.

I've played a lot of SPF2T, and PS does a great job of capturing that theme for me.

LOL! As opposed to Dominion? The least-thematic game in the history of games and the history of themes?

Christ, that's funny. Good one.

I like Puzzle Strike, but Dominion is better.

Why take shufflling out of the game? It's something every game should have. Dead serious. There's a bunch of reasons people use cards (room for art and text, hiding info easily, cost, space, ease of shuffling/randomization, etc). "People don't shuffle as randomly as others and this can make the game imbalanced" is a dumb reason to have such an expensive workaround and two expansions which quickly replaced each other to fix. Just use cards.

If Dominion: Guilds comes with 10-20 asymmetric characters or something, it wins the deck-building game all over again.

They are both pretty good, but I despise the constant shuffling so I'll vote Puzzle Strike.

I'm amazed that people are arguing about cards vs. chips, when they should be arguing about which game is strategically deeper and better balanced.

Puzzle Strike took what Dominion was and improved on it.

I don't know how to properly calculate the strategic depth of a game. But I do know when the literal mechanisms of play are annoying to me. I have strategic depth at my job - sometimes I just want to have fun and constant shuffling is not fun to me.

They're both well designed games with about the same amount of strategic depth if you're arguing base set vs. base set. Puzzle Strike is slightly better but Dominion is much better with more expansions. Thing is, Dominn is themeless and Puzzle Strike convincingly portrays a themeless video game... making it essentially themeless.

I'm sticking with my Rune Age vote.

I'm changing my vote to Rune Age with the level headed Barbarian.
