This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Agree with Jeff though, seems to be missing some crucial titles that I think fall into the genre. Chaos in the Old World, TI3, I mean come on... even Dune fits I think if we're putting in Imperial and Through the Ages (TTA while pretty awesome is a huge stretch to say it has more then a tiny bit of wargame in it.)
I like MPCGs across the spectrum, but most of my favorites are more streamlined and play quicker (Domaine, Evo, La Citta).
Through the Ages over CoC: I've only played the former, and it's among my most-played games, and I'm skeptical that another Civ-lite game could top it.
Eclipse over Antike: I have only a poor first impression of each, but Antike was more sour due to being too low on the conflict end of things.
Mare Nostrum over Dominant Species: Both solid, but I prefer territorial conflict over area influence.
SM Civ over God's Playground: Have only played the former, but it's gotten lots of plays and is a lot of fun.
Whatever's supposed to be #12 over Wallenstein. 'Nuf said.
Ursuppe over Imperial: Have only played Ursuppe... but it's on my top 10.
Small World / Vinci over PotR: Two of my least favorite MPCGs, but I'll give the nod to the more accessible one.
Civ over Cycaldes: Good first impression of the latter, but I gotta ride the solid epic entry over all but my favorites.
16. Clash of Cultures
I love TtA but CoC is just better.

A vote against Antike. Blech. One day maybe I'll play Eclipse.

5. Shogun / Wallenstein
Oh my god you managed to find the one game I would vote Wallenstein over, which is Age of Renaissance. In fairness I only played the "sequel" (Manifest Destiny) which was ... well let's see I have to roll on the tech chart to see if I get a tech that will let me accomplish anything? And my odds of success are not great? Oh look my next 3 hours are wasted time.
11. Primordal Soup
A vote against Imperial, which everyone seems to like more than I do. I don't seem to like economic hijinks. I only played it twice and wouldn't mind trying again though. Also Primordial Soup, while not the best game ever, is a great sim.
7. Small World / Vinci
Toughest one for me. Small World benig playable by wife and non-gamer friends elevates it. It's a lot of fun to manipulate everyone to do what you want in PotR though.
8. Civilization / Advanced Civilization
A vote against Cyclades, which was merely OK with three. Plus I'd love to play Civ someday.
