ACDC vs. Black Sabbath

Yesterday A tear rolled down my cheek as I had one of my proudest moments as a father. My 2 teenage daughters were having a debate over which band was better ACDC vs. Black Sabbath. That's right they weren't debating Miley Cyrus vs. Justin Bieber. They were debating ACDC vs. Black Sabbath and Back in Black vs. Paranoid and Highway to Hell vs. Iron Man.

Me and my doucheyboy brother could settle this debate as we both agreed that we spend more time over our life time listening to ACDC's simplier music but appreciated the greater influence that Black Sabbath had on Heavy Metal and Rock music. So we'll leave it up you. Please vote to settle this very important question.

Bonus points to Uba and Al if they can guess which daughter like ACDC and which daughter like Sabbath.

The answer should be Sabbath... but AC/DC it is for Back in Black. AC/DC weren't as heavy and were more fun to listen to, especially as kids

Bon Scott is one of the greatest songwriters and singers in the history of rock. AC/DC it is.

Sabbath's back catalogue against Highway to Hell?

I'm less of a fan of AC/DC post-Scott (Back in Black onwards), but the Bon Scott material is brilliant. The one song they keep playing over and over as Barnes called it started in the Scott era and has made AC/DC probably THE most recognizable sound in rock.

See if you can track down the Live at the Old Waldorf bootleg. It's on YouTube but the sound quality sucks. There are better quality versions out there you can find, download, burn, and rock out to. "Don't mind these seats here... They're for STANDIN' ON!"

Black Sabbath with the original four was also brilliant, but without Ozzy the band never even approached how good they were with Ozzy. They probably were a greater influence than AC/DC, but they can still get in line behind a bunch of other bands from that era.

Overall album content is a wash; for every four great tracks on the early Sab albums there are four very average tracks, and the same can be said for AC/DC.

Vote for AC/DC for wanting to rock, knowing how to do it, and not giving a shit about your appreciation level for the intricacies of their song structure.

I can't believe that someone would consider AC/DC in the same breath as Black Sabbath.

jeez, I love Highway to Hell, never realised Back in Black was held in such low regard.

As it stands, I wouldn't put either of these bands on today, but if it comes on the radio, I prefer AC/DC ... Sabbath is played out for me.
