TRASHDOME! Tammany Hall v Shogun (Wallenstein)

WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

Tammany Hall is a rather basic area superiority game but it works well for 19th century ethnic politics in New York. Most important flaw is that it didn't exactly give me that Gangs of New York feel that it could/should have done.

Wallenstein is a terrible miscatch of what the Thirty Years War was all about: destruction and depopulation. So in fact the game should start with all buildings in each area and then grind it all down.

So: Tammany Hall

I've got a lot more experience with Wally than Tamammy Hall. I'd still lean towards Wally - it feels less abstract despite its relative shortcomings in terms of capturing the essence of Gangs of New York. I'd love to see a more Sparacus like game on the subject with deals and backstabbing.

Haven't played either. Want to play TH, do not want to play S/(W).

Don't dismiss Tammany Hall. It's an awesome game that packs a ton of punch in a short-ish play time. I'm a big fan. Haven't played SHOWALLENGUNSTEIN! so I'll abstain my vote.

Tammany is pretty fucking evil, and devious, but Shogun has the tower of power.

Tammany Hall, easily. Very interesting game.

And this isn't a Kickstarter game. It was reprinted on Kickstarter sure, but then that's like saying Ogre is a kickstarter game.

Surprised you didnt put Tammany Hall up against El Grande and Dominant Species (not to mention the other Five Points gangs of new york game).
