Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)

Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

TRASHDOME! Washington's War v Twilight Struggle

Wasn't a fan of Twilight Struggle, but I did like Washington's War, not because of the CDG part, but the historical context. I'm not a fan of the CDG wargames in general.

Vote: Washington's War

Jeeze. We the People was a game changer. I have to go with Washington's War.

the fack? Twilight Struggle is like the most perfect game of all time. DRIPPING WITH THEME

Twilight Struggle is the only kickstarter thing I have ever participating in.

Twilight Struggle is the only 3 hour game that I could get my first wife to play with me.

I don't even know what Washington's War is but I assume it has something to do with 1776

vote: Twilight Struggle

Yes, nothing recreates the theme of the Cold War like having a hand of cards that tells you exactly what events will occur in the future.

But, mockery aside--

Washington's War didn't hold up very well to repeated plays for me. Playing as the British is uninteresting in the best of times, and downright ugly when you repeatedly get a fistful of 1- and 2-op cards. The rules are encumbered with an alarming number of exceptions and special rules (did we really need different wintering rules for Americans, British, AND French?) relative to the overall heft of the game.

Like a knife fight in two adjacent phone booths where you're staring really intently at each other.

Twilight Struggle all the way!

Having never played Washington's War, my vote is biased. I love me some Cold War era shenanigans; it was a hella complicated, turbulent, and potentially apocalyptic time, thus, FUN! Plus, Dr. Strangelove is one of my all time favorite movies.

Twilight Struggle

Revolutionary war themes don't really resonate with me.

Come to that neither does ACW. So it's Twilight Struggle all the way.

Washington's War: 3
Twilight Struggle: 6

I was hoping, WWr was going to win so I could post a photo of my favorite George Washington.

Screw it, gonna do it anyway.

(Easily one of my favorite commercials)

Let me rephrase the original question -- whose head is higher, Washington's War, or Twilight Struggle, when Twilight Struggle is standing on Washington's War's shoulders?

You're looking at the progenitor and the pinnacle of a line of closely related games.
