Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)

Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

CinemaDome: Deadpool vs Guardians of the Galaxy

Finishing up this lower tier week with a pair of off-beat superhero (using the term loosely) films that found tremendous success at the box office.

vs

Note: Due to Thanksgiving, I may not get around to tallying the votes until Monday morning.

Both of these are fun films, but Guardians is probably my most enjoyed Marvel movie in a LONG time. And I can take the kids to it.

Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians gets my vote as well. While I've yet to see Deadpool and have nothing against seeing it, superhero comics and movies should be first and foremost for the young 'uns, so DP fails in that regard. Maybe it's seen as edgy because of that, I don't really care. Plus Guardians is just such a fun and funny movie, it's a great time.

Agreed. Deadpool started well, but sagged in the middle as a lot of comic book adaptations do. Guardians was just a joy from beginning to end. One of the best "popcorn" films for sheer entertainment value ever made.

Deadpool, while damned hilarious, is rather like playing Cards Against Humanity. It's fun for a couple sittings, then the jokes are gone.

Guardians of the Galaxy is enjoyable many times over. Merchants and Marauders enjoyable to continue the game analogy.

Verdict: Guardians.

Deadpool is too one-note, and its snark isn't biting enough.

Guardians is simple and joyous, a rare combination.

I wasn't a huge fan of either movie, but Guardians is the clear winner.

I want to vote deadpool as this is a good pairing.

I bought GotG on blue ray. Deadpool I pirated.

But as a fan of the GotG comics from way back, my vote goes to Guardians.

Guardians of the Galaxy for sure. Easily my favorite superhero movie. Kind of cheats because it's really a science fiction spaceship show. The Milano is one of my favorite ship designs in modern years. The film hits all the right nows, heart, action and humor. Each time I watch it I enjoy it,

Deadpool was entertaining but not something I need to watch a second time.

Deadpool was almost great, but it had one of the thinnest plots I've ever seen and the snarky one-liners only landed about 50% of the time, and when they were funny they were almost always immediately undercut by an additional unfunny line (or three).

Guardians of the Galaxy's humor holds up better on repeat viewings and it has great action and better music. I was so delighted to hear The Runaways' "Cherry Bomb" that it wasn't until my second viewing that I even registered what they were saying during the montage.

Vote: Guardians of the Galaxy

I liked Guardians of the Galaxy. I went in with high expectations and it... almost met them. Good film, easy to watch, nothing mind blowing but it was ok.

Deadpool I went in with low expectations, I hate the character and was completely uninterested in the film. Then I saw it and I didn't like it... it was entertaining but I just didn't like it.

Then I tried to watch Guardians of the galaxy again and couldn't get through it... it just bored me. But I did try Deadpool a second time and I finished it.

Even though I didn't like it I did sit through it twice and Guardians, despite liking it, I just couldn't do it a second time.

So I guess I'll reluctantly vote for Deadpool. Not that it matters, Guardians will win anyway.

These last two cinemadomes are all about movies I don't much like. My fault for missing Ex Machina vs. Her.
