Lord Hawthorne stood leaning on the pommel of his jewelled greatsword. A smile curved at the edge of his mouth as he watched something flicker in the shadows. Let it come, he thought, There is little in this world I am afeared of... The movement came again - slight, but for a hero of Lord Hawthorne's stature, most obvious. Something was coming around the corner, trying to keep to the shadows. Lord Hawthorne flicked his greatsword up, bringing it to rest on one of his broad shoulders. He stepped contemptuously out into the corridor. The figure in the shadow moved suddenly, bringing a small metal staff up, sharply to bear on Lord Hawthorne, the hero smirked...

...kshhhh... Sir, enemy down. Corridor clear...

A man stepped from the shadows, he was wearing dark clothes made baggy by a number of pockets. Equipment was purposefully stowed at ankle, hip, chest and shoulder.

Two more similarly dressed men darted into the corridor.

As they moved past the crumpled and bloody remains of Lord Hawthorne one glanced down, "Fucker. He'll need more than a tin-foil chest plate to stop anyone who's punched a Hellhound to death with his fists." They moved on into the shadows...

Winner is DOOM!

There was a clear winner in this fight. Descent put up a hell of a defense, but that winner is DOOM. It came out strong and kept up its momentum throughout. Even a last minute bet or two wouldn't have changed the outcome.

Descent will get a decent burial. Whereas DOOM will return one day to defend itself against the Space Hulk reprint. Until then its earned a nice vacation in the wastelands.

I gotta say I'm shocked. I didn't know Doom had so many loyal fans around here.

I would rather play with the dog shit. Stick a lit firecracker in it and run away while everyone else gawks. Much more fun than the tedious movement and combat systems of Runebound.
