Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)

Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

Trashdome - Axis & Allies VS Starcraft: Board Game

Two trashdomes in a week? MOTHERAGOD!

This is an easy one. Sure, the old folks around here that stink of cigar smoke and cheap whiskey are going to say AXIS AND ALLIES. And the thing is, I loved it when I was a kid. But these days, what's the point anymore? Here's a hint- heavy bombers. Oh, and blow up Japan. The game is old fashioned in a bad way, and it's the least lasting of all the Gamemaster games barring maybe BROADSIDES AND BOARDING PARTIES. It's a game whose time has come and gone, and this Trashdome will probably be its deathknell. Regardless of any supermega edition that adds...gasp...Italy.

STARCRAFT is an innovative design that pushes DOAM games into new areas. Ten years from now people will be saying "damn, that game was really unique". Ten years from now, only crusty old farts will be playing AXIS AND ALLIES.

Seriously, what's the point of A&A when there's a billion other games like it that have done what it does better?

Get with the program people..OMG ZERG RUSH!

Vote: Axis & Allies

A game for the ages. Starcraft is just a game for right now.

"You youngsters, what with your Protos and Zorgs, it'll never last!"

I think what we're going to see here are two groups of people emerge:

- Those who want to be Hitler.
- Those who want to be Jim Raynor.

I know where I stand!

Huh. My last post vapourized.

In short, like both, but StarCraft, largely because I'm more nostalgic for Protoss than Nazis.

Anyone here tried Brood War?

Ten years from now Starcraft will be out of print and forgotten.

The game is overpriced and the rules are bad and bloated.

You are better off spending $2.00 at the Dollar Store

$1.00 for plastic space men

$1.00 for dice

Then make up your own rules and it will be ten times better than Starcraft.

Y'know Steve-O, if EVER there were a "con toad" game, Axis and Allies would be the poster child.

I'M JUST SAYIN'

Uh...since you used the phrase to describe Twilight Imperium 3, I'd thought you knew what it meant.

TI3 = 6-7 hours
Axis and Allies = 10-12 hours...maybe

I like the game but I think you're probably right. There are few games being released today that seem to have the traction to be future classics. BSG is a recent Ameritrash exception. People post about it all the time and there are on-line games being played here and at BGG. It looks like BSG will have longevity. But how often do people post anything about StarCraft? If that's any indication of how much it's being played, it's being forgotten by a lot of people already.

I don't remember saying that, hmmmm.

Its never taken me that long to play. I guess it depends on number of players and how good you are

This is true. One of Barnes' worst mistakes was to award this game of the year. It is just not that good. In fact, Barnes was on the brink of losing his "King of Boardgaming" title to Branham due to being a FFG toad (wink at Ken)

But Barnes' review of "Android" saved him.

Would Ken choose "Starcraft" over "Star Wars: The Queens Gambit"???

I hope not. Because let's face it.

Avalon Hill (Hasbro) kicks the ass of Fantasy Flight Games.

Can we see a sales graph please?
