Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

Trashdome - Memoir '44 VS C & C: Ancients

WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting on it. End your first post in this thread with the title of the game you're placing a bet on (i.e. voting for) so its clear to me when reading it later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. Counting expansions or not is entirely up to you just as playing with them or not is. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

After crushing BattleLore, M44 has decided to take on Commands & Colors: Ancients.

This isn't even a contest. M'44 sucks donkey balls compared to C&C:A. I find C&C:A to be a better merge of subject matter with the ruleset and certain features (battle back, evasion, line commands) really make it shine over the other entries into the system. I played M'44 once and it immediately went onto the trade pile. C&C:A still sees regular table time.

vote: C&C:A

I like the terrain aspect of M'44 and the fewer unit types. When I play C&C:A I find myself constantly referencing the rules. It's close but VOTE: Memoir '44.

Vote: Memoir '44

C&CA is just a shade too complicated for what I like about the C&C system.

Memoir '44 has tanks. C&C: Ancients has wooden cubes.

Vote: Memoir '44.

This is very easy for me. The system just works a thousand times better for ancients and flank bonuses and leaders are great mechanics.

Cc ancients

For me, C&C:A beats memoir on every front. Time period, blocks vs. minis, leaders, scenarios, expansions...PLus the fact that the system works fantastic for ancients warfare and sucks for realistic WWII combat...

VOTE: C&C:A by a landslide.

I really like both games but Here is my TOS rating for each C&C game.
#1. Hold the Line (9.0) - Shines above the C&C games in my book
#2. CC: Ancients (8.5) - Great unit mix (elephants to skirmishers). Overlord.
#3. Battle Cry (8.0) - Simplest of the C&C games but it has a quick set up and leaders.
#4. M44 (7.5) - I like M44 almost as much as Battle Cry and Ancients
#5. Battlelore (6.5) - A distant last

What I like about M44: Minis (I'm a kid again playing army men), quick set up, Overlord, quick game, fun
Problems with M44: Battles seem very abstract, I don't get a good feel of WW2 warfare, Leaders?

What I like about C&C:Ancients: Unit variety, great feel of ancient warfare, leaders, overlord
Problems with C&C:Ancients: stickers, setup time

Winner: CC: Ancients

There is actually a game with C&C:A. I have some sense of ancient tactics, battlelines, and some connection to the theme. I don't know what Memoir is but it's got nothing to do with WWII.

Vote: C&C:A

Thats a Trashdome that I'd like to see. I have had some awesome cheeseburgers and some horrible steaks. I'd lean to Steak but honestly, I often would rather have a good Cheeseburger.

VOTE: Cheeseburger over Steak.

Well, the one I enjoy the most is Battle Cry because it's one hell of a good cheeseburger. But given the choice of Memoir and C&C I'll go upscale. Memoir always seems to end too early for me.

I vote for C&C:A

It's a richer game, feels *way* more thematic, and doesn't suffer from Memoir's terrain set-up burden.
