× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting on it. End your first post in this thread with the title of the game you're placing a bet on (i.e. voting for) so its clear to me when reading it later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. Counting expansions or not is entirely up to you just as playing with them or not is. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Great matchup. I hope that folks vote in this one. MARE NOSTRUM is fun, but CITIES & KNIGHTS OF CATAN is really pretty awesome. It makes a really good game that much better and more interesting.

Mare Nostrum

I don't get all the love for C&K. Gives Settlers an even bigger runaway leader issue than it had to start. At least in vanilla Settlers the dice might turn your way and yu can pull some magic out of the hat. C&K? No way.

Ooooh boy this is tough. Settlers is one of my favorite games, and I love the Cities and Knights expansion, but I think that Mare Nostrum does that sort of game a little better, though perhaps not as accessible.

I've played C&K a few times, and it's a solidly ok. But Mare Mastrum has more interaction and is just a better game overall.

C&K, and vanilla Settlers, fell flat for me. It was enjoyable and engaging while I was playing it, but after we were done and I was thinking about it I just asked myself "Why?".

No interest in Mare Nostrum but C&K is one of the best expansions ever and I can't imagine myself playing vanilla Settlers anymore.

Cities and Knights drags on and on and on. It make Settlers 10 times longer than it's sweet spot.

We played Cities and Knights and it seemed like it made a fun game like Settlers drag on and on beyond it's fun-ness. So we tried it again, still same problem although a little better because I think we understood the rules better. I would love to give it a shot again.

Until then, I'll have to go with Mare Nostrum. A nice little compact game with enough fighting and stuff to keep it interesting.

Never played MN but C&K is the reason I got heavily into this hobby.

Just reading through this thread makes me want to throw down on some C&K right now.
