Trashdome - Small World VS Chaos In The Old World

WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting on it. End your first post in this thread with the title of the game you're placing a bet on (i.e. voting for) so its clear to me when reading it later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. Counting expansions or not is entirely up to you just as playing with them or not is. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

Well, now we will dethrone AToE for the worst beating in Trashdome history.

Chaos in the Old World, for reasons that are obvious to anyone who has played both.

Haven't yet played either, but one sounds badass and one was named after a Disney ride.

They are both euros...

SmallWorld is like eating a bowl of popcorn, you really don't have to think to play it.

COW left me with a bad first impression, but it has many of the checklist items that agree with the games I like most.

Of the two games I would never seek out a game of SmallWorld but would sit down and play another game of COW.

Chaos in the Old World has a great theme, but fails in the delivery. It's not particularly chaotic, and it lacks the demented wit it would have had if someone like Jervis Johnson had done it. It's a well-oiled machine, but not much more than that.

Small World does what it does better. It's a minimalist, bloody Dudes on a Map game with a cool, somewhat thematic mechanic that keeps things moving and heads rolling. It gets in, does its thing, and gets off the table before its welcome is in question. The artwork is pretty good, and the style fits for a family game.
