× WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting (i.e. voting for) it. Please make it clear for when I check the bets later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

Trashdome - Fury Of Dracula VS Castle Ravenloft

WELCOME TO TRASHDOME!

This is part of a series of bloody matches to the death. Show support for your favorite game so it will do better in the fight. You can support it by writing why you think its the better game and more importantly by betting on it. End your first post in this thread with the title of the game you're placing a bet on (i.e. voting for) so its clear to me when reading it later. You have until Friday when I tally the bets and declare the winner. Counting expansions or not is entirely up to you just as playing with them or not is. I will reserve my bet for any tie-breakers.

Although you should be familiar with both games, there is no rule that says you have to have played both of them. The only rule in Trashdome is this;

Two games enter! One game leaves!

D&D Castle Ravenloft
VS
Fury Of Dracula (either version)

It's been a long time since I played Fury of Dracula, and - admittedly - at the time I wasn't into AT nearly as much as I am now. But I do remember being frustrated by the fact that the non-vampire players have to restart their game (basically) if they ever lose track of the Bad Guy.

So while it isn't clear that Ravenloft provides the same quality/depth of experience, it's short, goofy fun. Plus, I'm still riding the high of destroying the Dracolich.

Vote: Castle Ravenloft

I haven't played Castle Ravenloft, but I really enjoy Fury of Dracula (FFG), so I can't sit idly by and let it take a beating by the new guy.

Vote: Fury of Dracula

Fury of Dracula: One of the best games I've ever played.

Castle Ravenloft: Not only does the setting not interest me at all, that Dragonball-Z-looking box art makes me retch.

Vote: Fury of Dracula

FoD is something special, unique. Ravenloft may be cool but it is ultimately Just Another Simplified Dungeon Crawl.

Alas, poor Castle Ravenloft! I knew it, F:AT; a game of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy... Well, I suppose not excellent, but fanciful nonetheless. And now, viewed aside Fury of Dracula, how abhorred in my imagination it is!

Vote: FoD

I love Ravenloft, but I really doubt it's one for the ages. But you know what is? Fury of Dracula.

Vote: FoD.

Fury of Dracula is one of, if not THE, example of an absolute classic AT game that still holds up to this day.

Castle Ravenloft is proof positive that BGG has more AT cred than FAT these days. A dungeon-themed exercise for the happy-meal gamers.

FoD is a classic. Take your pick of flavors because both have staying power. Personally I prefer the older GW version. CR is a fine game but I don't want to own it and in 10 years time I'm not sure I'll even want to play it, so the choice is easy.

vote: Fury of Dracula

One of these days there will be a trashdome in which I've actually played both games. I've never played Fury, so...

vote: Castle Ravenloft.

I just realized last month I sold Fury of Dracula for $60 and I just bought Castle Ravenloft for $52 with Shipping and handling.

Stupid!, Stupid!, Stupid!, Stupid!

Actually, it kind of makes sense. I can always play Uba's, Malloc or RoboNick's copy and Castle Ravenloft I bought as a family game.

My Vote: Fury of Dracula

While I'm loving Ravenloft--I really do love playing this with my family for a quick, fun game, Fury of Dracula has more memorable stories associated with it in my mind. Comparing them is difficult---I've played Ravenloft a lot (like I've played For Sale quite a bit with the family) but it isn't really comparable.
