I've decided against Robotech for a variety of reasons, but in doing so, I stumbled across this (above)...

$260 (5 sets) for what amounts to almost the entire table area of Ravenloft, in really great 3D tiles. I could make them cheaper with Hirst Arts stuff, but this stuff is really great and doesn't require shit - just lay and play.

UGH.

We live in a great time for gaming, but a bad time to be broke.

Edit:

And they're pretty much indestructible.

I saw that one. Very cool, but I wish the terrain was more varied.

Less concerned about that than the need to buy a metric fuck-ton of the stuff. I went back and forth on this stuff for quite a while but ended up deciding to buy a bunch of Terraclips stuff instead.

Just the other day my buddy said, "sure those Heroscape parts are tough, but if you were playing on top of a water tower and somebody dropped one it would break for sure." I had to agree with him.

That just seems to be a bundle of money that could be spent on complete packages of some sort. I appreciate everyone values things differently, but they have the appearance of ultra-vanilla dungeon adventure. Is there something I'm not seeing that makes them jump out at you?

Playing Descent with a 3-D dungeon is pretty bad ass. And if you're an eye candy whore as I am, unabashedly, you NEED these.

It's lame compared to Dwarven Forge *real* selection. With Descent 1.0, yeah, these tiles could be really cool. 2.0? No way, the tiles' artworks blow these tiles away.

The best thing about this KS is the amount that you get. And that's not really THAT cheap either.
