I didn't want to hog the Blog section on the front page, especially since John just put up a lovely little piece, so I'm posting it here for those who give a crap about modeling and miniatures.

Lots of links for people that want to look into different materials.

Looks fantastic! Although I'm inherently frightened by anything you are calling "Secret Sauce".

Looks great and such a cool little detail of an idea for a model.
You need to get into Gaslamp and make awesome stuff for that.

Whoops, I meant Gaslamp.
That dude Mark from BGG has done some amazing stuff for it and I always wanna see more, especially since it's just a rule set and everything people make is usually custom kitbashing stuff.

That's pretty much every miniature game; a rule set and your imagination.
Check out Tutofig or the Lead Adventures Forum. Holy God in heaven are some of these people amazing. Some of these dudes put Hollywood effects guys to shame. Not even the same ballpark.
Check out Matakishi's Tea House as well - the guy's utterly brilliant.

There's tutorials on everything there, too, which is a bonus. His Afghan village stuff is a staple for me building Egyptian pulp terrain.
My fave of all the projects there is where he made a Denny's drink cup...
...into a Flash Gordon-ey spaceship...
