GW's Judge Dredd was created by Mr. White
A few months back I picked up a NIS copy of GW's Judge Dredd for a song (the game was labelled incorrectly on ebay). Opening the shrink I was hoping it'd be the version with the little plastic judges. Ended up having the pawns.

So, I sleeved all the cards and pimped the game out with Heroclix 2000AD minis. Why Heroclix with their poor paint jobs instead of the nice metal Dredd minis that Mongoose is currently selling?

A) I really don't like painting anymore so wanted to do as little as possible. With these I just popped them off the clix base, pinned them to a GW 28mm round base, and put on a little grey and black.
B) I didn't want to have to care for the minis and store them in any sort of protective foam. These can just be thrown in the game box.
C) I play it with kids as well so I don't have to worry about the minis getting chipped/broken in play.

Anyway, I think they came out well and actually add a lot to the game's narrative as opposed to just being nice player pieces. How pissed is Dredd when the visiting Brit City Judge leads a Block War against Mega City Judges? Worse when one of the bounty hunters (Johnny Alpha or Stix) is doing a better job cleaning up the Big Meg than The Law is...

If only they made Rogue Trooper and Hammerstein clix, I'd be set.

(EDIT: in the foreground are some Dark Judge cards I made. They act sort of like the Reaper in Talisman. I haven't finalized how they're used yet. Some games we randomly choose one that randomly moves around the Meg. Other games a random judge is played on someone who rolls a '6' for movement. Still being tested.)

Yeah, but is the game any good?

The game is awesome. Quick set-up and take-down, very accessible, and tons of flavor.
Like classic GW boardgames? Like 2000AD art? Judge Dredd goofiness?

You know how all fantasy adventure games are compared against Talisman? Really, all superhero games should be compared against Judge Dredd. There still hasn't been a better one. (You can see a lot of GW's Judge Dredd underneath the levers and pulleys of Nexus' Marvel Heroes.)

I don't write reviews, so here's one for you:
