You can also reduce the cost by using coupons. Joanns and Michaels sell all these supplies, except for maybe the book tape, and they constantly have 40% off a single item coupons. You can hoard them up and use multiple coupons when you check out.

Also, rotary cutters and paper trimmers are a bit expensive, but are totally worth it if you do a lot of craft stuff, especially at 40% off. If your wife or kids have crafty type hobbies they would get use out of them as well. In fact, if someone in your household sews, quilts, scrap books or rubber stamps, you probably already own a bunch of this stuff, you just might not know it.

ETA: Link to current coupon 40% at Joanns

You know, I keep a large sheet of 1/8" plexi in my game room. It requires far less effort, the map is mostly protected by the box in storage.

Although a good rotary paper trimmer on a base is an essential purchase. Doubly so if you are prototyping or playtesting for someone. 3/4" hole punches are a second really useful purchase.

.

I mounted mine so that I don't have to lug a large sheet of plexiglass around when I game somewhere other than at home. I do much of my gaming at club venues or friends' places.
