Do you sleeve all your games?

Plano boxing serves another purpose though. It's not about protecting your bits but trying to smooth out playing the game by having things organized. I've got about 6 Plano boxes for Descent, 1 for Arkham Horror and a tiny one for Prophecy. Trying to play Descent without something to organize and easily pass around all the tokens is suicide.

Bingo.

Organizing your games this way makes a big difference. Not only does it make things easier during actual play, but it cuts down on the setup/teardown time dramatically, both of which are going to increase the likelihood that the game will reach the table.

Okay, I'll throw in a question for the plano boxers. For games like Heroscape do you go for small boxes and keep each figure separate, or for large boxes and put several figures in each subsection? Or to put another way, is damaging the paint job a concern for pre-painted figures? Or even for custom figures that you've painted come to that.

Well, I have this huge fucking suitcase Stanley organizer I got at the hardware store for my Scape figs. It opens up with these two big wing panels and has six internal trays for more crap. I didn't want to have to go through opening 10 different small boxes each game. Anyway, I just cram around 3-4 squads per compartment.

But you can pack them in and I've never ever had a Scape figure's paint chip at all. The main concern here is bent swords and guns, etc. Please store in a cool, dry place.

Well, I don't own Heroscape, but if I did, and if I had enough shit for it to necessitate the Plano treatment, I'd sort the figures according to their actual cards. That means, if a particular army card contained three figures, all those figures would go together in a big subsection.

No, damaging the paint jobs on pre-painted figures wouldn't be a concern for me. It's not very likely for one thing, and if it does happen, it's not like these are great paint jobs to begin with, so fixing them would be pretty easy.

The Stanley organiser sounds great. I can see what you're saying regarding ten different small boxes, because it then adds labeling them to the work.

And sorting by card presumably means the ideal would mean using a box that has movable subdivisions.

Thanks to both of you for confirming that the paint job is pretty tough. Not sure whether I'd go for one large or several small strackable boxes, but the biggest problem is that in England any storage solution - other than a cardboard box - gets expensive.
