Thanks man. To be clear, I'm not a fanboi of Rand, but I was simply trying to add to the discussion -- which WAS off-topic, as I realize.Black Barney wrote: Lego bullied Axiom into taking down his really cool post

Odd, for a moment I felt as if I was on BGG... it must be the pollen.

I read a really good book on her a couple years back and like talking about it too. And yeah, I'd like to reread your post and people that wanna talk about it can.
Here they can get back to board games. Think of it like we sat at the same table as a bunch of people playing Munchkin and starting talking Rand. We'd surely be kicked off the table and drink at the next available table. All the cool kids would come with us
Anyway, i'm glad it didn't scare you off. The same thing happened to me years ago here where I thread-jacked the video game thread. It's all good, people are awesome here, including Lego

That's fantastic! Say, part of the problem is that I'm new around here, and don't quite know how things are laid out yet. Your comment helps, and I appreciate it.Black Barney wrote: Do better than that, start a thread! Put it in the Cantina so people will know it's just fun pub conversation.

Played Star Wars: The Card Game x4 -- once solo. If you're into that kind of thing, the "Simplified Solo Rules" are fun and challenging.
Played Apex Therapod last week x2.
Managed to get Ogre on the table, but only the pocket version (I can't be bothered to put that deluxe edition on the table, for some reason).
Playtested "Two Years Before the Mast", a game of sailing ships from Boston to Santa Barbara (early/mid 1800s), x2 (still sucks).
Working on -- wait for it! -- a solid set of solo rules for Dune. So far so good!
One play of Power Grid: Factory Manager.

I was for real just suggesting it split out into another thread, y'all.

Omen: A Reign of War - I think I mentioned this one already, but I enjoyed it. I can see this becoming a regular 2p game.
Imperial Settlers - A couple more games of this. I still like it but man, it just makes me want to play The New Era. Especially with the expansion, I can't seem to accept it for itself yet and instead just see it as a fluffier version of that. I realize that in a lot of ways it's better -- certainly the rules are much more straightforward, but still.
Istanbul - This continues to be a euro I don't really mind. Can't say why, actually, since there's really nothing remarkable or even interesting about it. It revels in its blandness. But for some reason it doesn't bug me nearly as much as some of the other stuff I'm expected to love, maybe because it plays pretty quickly and allows for some clever play. I wouldn't miss it if it vanished from the Earth, though.
Steam - Played a great 5p game of this where everything just went to hell for everyone as the center of the board became a Gordian knot. Love this game.
Coloretto - Hadn't played this in ages but a friend has it on his 10x10 list. I always forget how much fun and how wicked this game can be. Forget the fluffy versions with the animals and whatever, the card game is the shit. I'm glad it was brought back to my attention.
Sky Tango - Played this this past weekend and really liked it:
This is a beautiful card game that can get deceptively vicious. It seems at first that each player will just be doing their own thing, but no, you will definitely be messing with each other. I also like how the simple and straightforward rules put the players in tough situations. Playing another card after playing one with an animal on it seems like always a good thing but nope, it can really bite you. And the endgame is especially tricky and full of tough choices. This is just a stellar game. It plays up to four, but it seems to me that it's perfect with only two.
Temporum - Another from this past weekend:
So far, DXV doesn't seem to be a designer for me. I admire Dominion and Kingdom Builder, but I don't find them particularly fun or interesting. I wasn't expecting I'd be wowed much by this one. However, I really enjoyed it. I liked how the time travel and history-changing worked, and thought the flavor throughout it was a lot of fun. It was good with two, but I think a full compliment making it more chaotic will be even better.
(I suspect that said possible chaos will cause "concern" with his usual fans because "too random" and "unpredictable".)
Nexus Ops - I'd been wanting to play this again, as it had been far too long. Even with two newbs playing it was a great game, and they quickly got into the spirit. Lots of trash talk, which was made funnier by the fact that we were all rolling for shit. I got really close to the win but flubbed too many die rolls. This game needs to be in my top 10.
Zeppelin Attack! - I don't know why, but I really enjoy this goofy little deckbuilder.

Interestingly I am afraid to pick up Robinson Crusoe as my impression is it will occupy a similar thinky place when played solo. Anyone care to comment?

Any further thoughts or comments about this one? I've been curious about it, but never pulled the trigger. You like it?

I played it once way back when it first came out and it was very meh. I had absolutely no intention of ever playing it again, as it seemed I'd already burned out its options after the one play and seen all it had to offer. Seemed like the poster-child for a cash-in euro surfing the wave of PG and FF's popularity.

I haven't played Mage Knight (although I would like to), so my experience is limited. RC is definitely not too thinky. My impression from what I've read about MK is that they're not even in the same league.iguanaDitty wrote: Interestingly I am afraid to pick up Robinson Crusoe as my impression is it will occupy a similar thinky place when played solo.
