Check out Streetfighter... www.kickstarter.com/projects/1821440755/...tegory&ref=discovery

Kickstarter-exclusive because retail would be "impossible"! All-in pledge of $280. The painted minis look amazing. But wow.

They have future plans for a Mortal Kombat using the same system. I'll probably fail my saving throw on that one.

I’m a Volcano Islandeer. Went in for the minimum. I don’t see that changing.

Give a look to Lifeform, a game that will only be available in retail in limited quantities and being produced by a small company.

Ugh...wow.

So...uh...the base game comes with Guile's Air force stage...but Guile isn't in the base game?
The base game has 6 characters for $80, but adding the two bosses is an extra $60? That leap in cost and value is totally reliant on a bunch of stretch goals getting unlocked. This isn't really what I understand the meaning of stretch goals to be. I mean, I always thought they were bonus for going above and beyond. In this case, it looks like unlocked stretch goals are necessary for the pledge levels to even be worth it.

Also, from the comments, seems like a lot of the commenters know each other from other KS campaigns. Is there a large group that just goes around throwing wads of cash at every KS that comes down?

It's definitely structured in a strange way. They seem to fully intend to release 12 characters as stretch goals, but the base fund level is $400k, which is HUGE.

The "cost per figure" doesn't get attractive until you unlock all stretch goals at the $140 tier, in my opinion. It's also worth pointing out that you don't even get any stretch goals at the $80 base game level. For a game that isn't going retail, that seems bizarre to say the least.

If Guile and Blanka are any indication, It also looks like there's about 150K between each fighter. That's a vast amount and big red flag that not even all the 12 World Warriors may be released.

These little 50K upgrades of component upgrades and such can take a hike. It's characters that drive the SF franchise...they should be the highest priority.

Yeah, I'm not really into this set up. I've got Shadespire for man to man card/mini based fighting. Hard to believe I now live in a world where a GW game can be seen as a 'budget' title. ...ha!

Yikes! Those numbers are insane. I keep seeing spot UV on the box as a stretch goal. Fireball Island has it too. Who is out there begging to pay more for shiny boxes?

I sincerely hope they re-structure things for Mortal Kombat, but if they make bank on this then I'm sure they won't.

All insanity aside, that Akuma miniature looks fucking great.

Yes there is. Also pledge speculating is a thing - selling your pledge at a profit when the game is closer to actually shipping.

I love the last sentence in this line from the Kickstarter page:

*THIS CAMPAIGN'S CONTENT IS A KICKSTARTER EXCLUSIVE AND THESE SETS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE AT RETAIL! (This is your chance to participate in this celebration!)

I don't pledge very many Kickstarters, but I love reading them. Some of the messaging is entertaining as hell.

Another gigantic release of plastic, maximizing FOMO.

I sincerely hope that everyone backing this gets what they want from it and enjoys it. I hope it's everything they want it to be.

However, it's completely the opposite of what I want from this industry. I don't need a $200 (or $500, who knows!) box of toys to take up space, all for a "Draw, move, play card" game. Just give me something interesting to play.

I wouldn't even back this with someone else's money.

UV coating isn’t just for gloss - it’s like a heavy clear coat that protects the box.

I’ve done this a few times and paid for a guitar with the proceeds. It’s like getting a 800$ item for 400$ if you make a hundred on each.

I love this line explaining why large minis are great:

Playing with larger miniatures on a board with 3D terrain gives amazing table presence when you pull this game out at any gathering! You'll be the talk of the town!

I genuinely believe there's a few thousand whales who back nearly every big KS, either because they have no impulse control or just like flipping pledges, and that they're subsidizing a big chunk of the boardgame KS market.
