Once it gets a bit warmer I'll be putting new windows in one of our rooms and fixing up some siding.
I started a PnP Dune but got busy during; I've got it all complete except the board and storm marker.
My hobbies (music, games) have taken a backseat to home maintenance stuff in the past year or so. I'm pretty handy and know how (or can learn) most of the stuff I need to do with the house, and I can even do it well. It's great when it's all done, but I really don't enjoy the process all that much. I'm hoping by late summer all the major things are done because I want my free time back.

I want to make a few tokens and maybe some character stuff for Destroy all Monsters! that would cost me an arm and a leg to have Litko make for me.

Having a community laser cutter would be great.
Our library has community services too. The other week I heard two guys who looked kind of neckbeardy and had 300 lbs. of camera gear talking about renting a room for a photography session. Their model walked up, a young lady who had apparently driven down from Ogden, about 60 miles away. I think there may be a sort of weird photography semi-pro thing going on where guys photograph women in exchange for giving them a portfolio of photos.
I know it's lame of me to criticize someone's work, but I get the sense there's a creepy economy of photography with rules I don't quite understand nor want to.

I used to do that. The models and photographer both expand their portfolios. One of the few times in business where both parties have an equitable arrangement without anyone being left in the dust as long as the model doesn't sign over all copyrights to the photos.

Probably going to be starting on floor-to-ceiling bookshelves in the basement.

There was a friend's son, about 20 at the time, who was starting out and did this, but all the sessions were soft porny. He's branched out into other kinds of photography and is starting to get interesting, but it has taken him five years.Colorcrayons wrote:

Nice. Methods or substance?
My life: TRYING to buy a (this time incredibly expensive because of the area) house again. Leaving Friday to look.

Also working on a few other designs, trying to find a publisher for my real-time dice rolling Street Fighter game.
Not sure if it counts as a project but I'm also doing freelance writing for Ars Technica and working on some reviews for their Ars Cardboard arm. I now write under three different editors (Barnes being one of them), which is interesting.

I started this back in September and had I known how long it would take me to finish doing it myself, I might have hired someone to finish it. Doing remodeling all day as my job, and then coming home and working on my shop in the evenings for the last 5 months has really drained all my energy for doing basically anything. But now it's done, barring some exterior stuff that needs to wait for warmer/dryer weather (painting, concrete "patio").
It's mostly going to be for woodworking, but will also be good for other random projects I start.
I've decided the first project I do will be a Crokinole board. But I have no idea when I will get to start that since the shop was Phase One of my wife's grand remodeling plan. Next is the main bathroom, then the kitchen, then the master bath. At least those should only take 2 weeks each at the most (I just know I'll regret those words).
