I'm putting the finishing touches on my album. Final mixes and mastering and then it's off to CD Baby to get 100 made. My Kickstarter was successful so I should only have to shell out a couple bucks of my own.

The chapter on Derek Sivers (found of CD Baby) in Tim Ferriss' book "Tools for Powerful Titans Who are Really Rich" (or something like that) is really interesting. He's a weird and fascinating guy.

But the living area, gaming area, and bar are in place so I'm pretty enthusiastic about that. We used to have our games up in a little bedroom and gamed at the kitchen table, which meant longer or campaign games either had to be finished or packed away unfinished. Now once I get a table in stuff can stay set up if needed.

Every time I try attach some pics to this post I get a 404 on Submit, so here's an Imgur gallery .

3 months later, on nights and weekends, the bathroom is finished. Though to be fair, our plans kept changing; some forced, some at the whims of my wife (THANKS PINTEREST). But who cares, it's done now. I did everything except the plumbing, building the vanity, and putting the glass in.

Before:

(Forgot to take a picture before I took the mirror down)

After:

I am so sick of looking at that bathroom, but it turned out amazing. My wife graciously gave me 8 weeks until we start the kitchen. Now to maybe play some board games on a more regular basis or make something in my shop.

That looks fantastic!

As for me, I'm wrapping up my video game I've been making, Record Store Nightmare. Cutting together a trailer now, actually. It's been a fun learning exercise. I'll be taking a break after this is done.

Nice work in that shower, those tile cuts look super frustrating. However, the end result with the shelf detail is great.

Yeah, stuff like this was really fun:

I had to figure that stuff out on the fly, since we've never done anything like that at work. And now I know why. It takes forever. We usually keep it simple, like this:

Got a new phone and installed a Google-free Android called e/OS on it by myself. Learned a lot about mobile phones in the process. The community is very helpful, so compared to other IT endeavors it was smooth sailing, and I didn't know shit about Android before, had just a little Windows and Linux experience
I have been using the OS for about two years now because it has a ton of anonymity features like TOR and IP cloaking built in (which I don't use) and is free, as in I don't pay with any personal data.
Feels great, actually. Like not being watched anymore.
Would be glad to answer any questions if someone is interested in getting away, too.

Wow, just a few posts above this I was finishing Record Store Nightmare, and now I'm working on Office Nightmare. Except while RSN took me about 6 weeks, I've been working on Office Nightmare for 6 months and have most likely a year to go. It's fucking hard, and it's a lot, and while 92 people entered the public playtest, only 10 of them have actually launched the game, which makes finding bugs or problems pretty difficult.

Making the game has been fun, but trying to promote it is impossible. The avalanche of new video games is non-stop.

I am ridding my shelves of unread books and unplayed games.

About a month ago, someone started trying to hack my primary personal email account. They seemed to be using a VPN and a simple program, as my activity log showed attacks on roughly an hourly basis from a variety of foreign countries, all day long and every day. I didn’t notice anything until my email provider refused my password due to too many failed login attempts, and sent a password reset link to my other personal email account. The hack attempts continued, forcing me to reset my password each week. They never got into my account, but I was getting annoyed and weary of changing my password each week.

So I investigated alternative methods of logging in. The easy way to do it would be to go without a password and use a phone app to verify my access. Unfortunately, I have an older iphone that comfortably fits in my pocket (unlike newer and larger phones) that can no longer download most apps due to an outdated and unsupported operating system.

I did further research and found a good alternative that involved attaching an alias account to my email account and only allowing login via the alias account. The alias account is the same account as a new account that I just set up with a different email provider, and I will only use that new email account for this purpose. My primary email account remains the same, and will continue to send and receive emails as usual. The only difference is that I use the alias account address to login to my primary email. Any attempt to login into my primary email using my primary email address will fail, because that email address has been disabled for login purposes only. The hacker will be completely unable to continue to hack my primary email address and will receive an error message with each failed attempt.

Like with games and video discs, I have only so much space and time, so I try to frequently go through my collection of books and cut down on those that won’t get read or no longer have meaning to me.

And I also have changed my buying habit from getting lots of paperbacks that may not get read to more expensive hardcovers or higher quality editions that have a higher probability of being read and kept.

One of my upcoming projects will be Swedish Death Cleaning. I'm not a horder, but I do have several collections and a fair amount of clutter in my house. My ex once made a comment that someday I would die and she and my sister would be stuck with dealing with big piles of my stuff. However, I realize that this will be a big undertaking and it will cause me some pain to let go of so many possessions. So I plan to get rid of 5% of my possessions each year, until I get down to some basic level of essentials plus ongoing favorites.

I just helped empty the office of someone at the University who took a different job and decided to "donate" all of her stuff to us. Just looking at those piles of books that she kept for 13 years and didn't need made me want to purge my collection. Swedish Death Cleaning sounds like a progmetal rpg.

Also my life seems to be unraveling right now, so it's a good time for change.
