I think I'll back Dark Venture. I see it competing with other games I have (Escape from 100M BC especially) but the experience looks unique.
I'm also looking at this one:
Far Away
. It sounds beautiful, but the 2p part concerns me. I don't have a lot of strictly 2p opponents, and I have a ton of 2p games, so adding another choice is rough. But it looks so great. Tough call.
Dark Venture looks cool. I've got a moratorium on adventure games as I have too many that are played too little. So until I get sick of playing the ones I have or get rid of them I'm not buying more. Or to put it another way, if the ones I have already aren't jumping off my shelves I don't believe a new one will either. Also, there's the below reason for FA that applies.
Far Away is another cool looking one. I'm also not really interested in 2P games but regardless of that I think I'm done buying games a year or more ahead of getting them. Just personal preference I guess.
I thought Claustrophobia would be a no-brainer to back but this new edition ain't lookin' so hot. They somehow managed to make the information design worse and create even more table sprawl. And what's with the use of white all over the place? White mats, white cards, red icons. Yuck. Nothing new in the gameplay videos. I'm starting to think Catacombs might pull me away from this (got rid of my first edition long ago).
Catacombs third edition is a pretty good time. But if you're flicking I'd be tempted to do seal team flix instead. I think the flicking twists are more creative and just imho I like the flicking mechanic as a coop mechanism.
im currently being really tempted by Pipeline from Capstone Games. i really like the sound of the spatial puzzle/automation aspect married to the crunchy economic stuff. im not sure if i could get it played enough to make it worth backing. tempting though.
Me too; I'm in. As I watched a solo playthrough I wanted to grab the cards and start playing, so that was my sign.
I was initially considering Catacombs, then watched SU&SD flick some discs around for a bit and remembered why I let my original version go. Besides, I have Seal Team Flix.
If I'm going to drop $130-200 I think the product needs more game than Catacombs can bring. I mean I enjoyed Catacombs back in the day and I like the new art, but I just don't get the Cadillac pricing and production of that thing especially if you want any of the expansion material.
Thanks, Kickstarter (he says as he backs another giant box of plastic & cards).
Any thoughts on Rallyman? Holy Grail Games just launched the Kickstarter for Rallyman GT. Never played the original, but it caught my eye on occasion as I’m always interested in a good race game. Looks like a pretty light reboot but still more substantial than Claustrophobia 1643.
The next in the Graphic Novel Adventures series is on Kickstarter, and this time it’s cooperative. It’s the Crusoe Crew, and it’s intended for family play.
I’m enjoying Captive and Loup Garou a lot, doing one run a night, switching between the two, but this looks like something I’ll more appreciate the existence of than playing it. I think it’ll be hard to find a good group who aren’t going to argue and optimize every decision and be willing to laugh at early losses.
Not a big kickstarter person at all, got slightly stung on the Kremlin mess and backed Space Cadets: Away Missions but otherwise I don't even look a the actual website .. then I saw a link to a new Sword & Sorcery game by Ares, I missed the first one and from what I have seen and read it is a pretty good game so yesterday I paid for my 2019 Christmas present - Sword & Sorcery - Ancient Chronicles.
It closes tonight if anyone is interested.
I backed QE, because apparently I just just can't have enough auction games that no one I know wants to play. It looks super good though! Kinda like a mash up of High Society and Ponzi Scheme. You bid secretly (the auctioneer writes down a public starting bid, everyone else writes down a secret bid and gives it to the auctioneer. You only know if the starting bid wins or if someone bid more, but not if it was a dollar more or a trillion dollars more). You can bid literally any amount, but the person who spent the most at the end loses.
