The video game already plays like a board game, is there something that Darkest Dungeon in physical form adds?

Well it's being made for these people, in order:
- mini collectors/painters
- videogame fan fanatics
- boardgamers who don't play videogames (much) and don't mind paying a premium price for a boardgame (due to it having a tsunami of minis.

I may be in the last category, depends on how well the actual game is expanded in stretch goals - but I suspect they will mainly be more minis.

Hmmmm - that's put a cat amongst the pigeons, just seen Nova Aetas: Renaissance and that is in my sphere of interest ... bugger.

The Darkest Dungeon minis look fantastic, mostly because they look exactly like their video game counterparts, and looking at them just makes me want to play the video game, and not a board game version.

I remember the company being a pretty big If but I don't remember who it was.

And lest you think I'm too cool for kickstarter, the final prepress oath physical components pics are looking gorgeous.

I think I’m in on this one. The setting is right in my wheelhouse.

Except boardgamers like me who can't/don't paint and don't know anyone who can for me will just have grey and red minis - just like any other game I have.

I have Sine Tempore, which we are struggling through at the moment due to great ideas poorly explained in a too short rulebook, that was the follow-up to the original Nova Aetas and the precursor to this new title so I'm trying to find out from them how similar it is and (without pissing them off entirely) will it be supported much better than Sine Tempore on BGG and their website. Not sure if I can spend that much on a 80-90% shared DNA game.

This is tempting as hell. Charlie? Michael? I'm afraid.

I'm backing. Love this game although setup is hefty and I would stay far away if you're sensitive to that sort of thing.

I have complete faith in them as all of the expansion material I've played has avoided the pitfall of burdensome complexity and they really seem to have a firm grasp on their vision.

I didn't back the original Kickstarter, but it ended up with an extreme amount of value. They have also never been late on delivery (in addition to Core Space they've ran campaigns for generic terrain).

I may back it just because it ships from the UK so I'll pay next to nothing for shipping for once ... and it sounds damn cool.

I'm likely to bale on Nova Aetas as it is 80% Sine Tempore but also because it is not great value, all but one small expansion are paid add-ons so that makes it (with shipping) $155 for a core game and a bit extra.
And Darkest Dungeon could get the same treatment, though it does look like a very good game to play from the videos I'm watching and even though the expansions are again paid add-ons I may treat the $135 as my next years Christmas gift ... or sanity may prevail - as I commented to the developer on FB this isn't a boardgame, it's a miniatures collection for painters with a boardgame attached .

I grabbed the early bird pledge, so I think the value is there for 150 + shipping. I also did not get the previous offerings from the company, so it is a new thing for me. Worst comes, I'll flip it after like I did Street Masters.

Whoops, now I have read it all I see it is a starter set and not a reprint - not into collectable tabletop type games so I'll just stick to the boardgames I already have (and have ordered/pledged). Phew - money saved.

Yup. This is me. No collectible stuff, ever again. They (M:TG, Warhammer of every possible stripe) were seriously fun, but I have too many other things (obligatory and not) demanding the time and money that they devour. Can't do it anymore.
