Why must you stab fun in the face Billy? It wants to be your friend.[/quote]
See? That just highlights the inadequacies of the internets, because, as anyone who has ever sat down and gamed with me knows, I'm veritable suppository of fun.
Wait. I think I got that last part wrong.

A good game is a good game, regardless of where it comes from, what it looks like, or what genre it belongs to. Part of being an experienced gamer is recognizing that, and being able to identify what it is you like and don't like about certain types of games. Blanket dismissals of AT games are one of the things that brought us together...we start issuing blanket dismissals of Eurogames and we're just as stupid as they were. I've always stated, over and over again, that I love a good Eurogame. They do exist, and sometimes I even want to play them over a DoaM or an adventure game.
I could give fuck all what people think about me liking AGRICOLA. It's a fun game. I've enjoyed it. And yeah, it's a sad day when a game called WORLD WAR IV isn't fit to wipe Hanno's ass.
But regardless, Adrian still sucks for playing FACTORY FUN.
I've been playing quite a bit of Dinosaurs of the Lost World, and I think it is pretty great. The whole game is just covered in theme and it does a great job at conveying the feeling of being an exploration party.
Dear Space Sir,
Please write a review and regale us with tales of dino-wonder.
Thanks.

I'm hoping to get in a game of BSG tonight, since it's my last foray to my game group for a while.
I'm not sure I've yet turned down a game of BSG...

" FACTORY FUN, Adrian? Really?"
Uh-huh, I actually preferred it to Galaxy Trucker.
" LINEAGE II..."
Soon, soon!

I blame you Tom: for threatening me with a purple XXXXXX in another thread!
" I might have to make a trip down the motorway..."
Do they allow electric tricycles on the motorway? (I know you call it the Elderstermobile but really...)
Michael Barnes wrote: " Tom, that's a great idea. I'd like you to go on a fact finding mission to see what is going on at the Eurogames compound Adrian has apparently situated himself in. If you find traces of wooden cubes ... Don't wait for the cow to be slaughtered, it's not for barbecue."
Which reminds me, I should play more:-

Not a cube in sight!!
Maybe I should play Caylus some more and see how apoplectic I can make Michael.
billyz wrote: " The whole point here is whether a game is AT or Euro has fuck all to do with if the game is good or not: I judge each game I play individually, and my final evaluation is based solely on the game's merits."

That's definitely where I'm coming from.

Will do. I'll write a full length one within the next day or two -- where should this type of thing get submitted (a review for an older game)?

I've also been playing Neuroshima Hex with the Babel 13 expansion. Great stuff. I love that game, and the Z-Man production is top notch.
What is this - Apologists Anonymous? How often has this statement been muttered now?Very rarely do Euros pass the grade, but in the case of Agricola I think Hanno got it right. I'd hate to think we'd start painting all Euros wiht the same brush simply because of stupid fucking reasons like: their colour palette is drab, they're just efficiency exercises disguised as games, no player elimination etc..

I like to take a more radical point; a vegetarian doesn't eat fish on Friday either. The fact that most of us (myself included) like an odd euro or another is only an exception to the rule, that eurogames and especially its subcategory "worker placement games" suck ass. Eurogames with either their short rules and play times or their badly implemented and boring themes represent the exact opposite of what I'm looking for in a board game, else I would play cards in the local alehouse. So when I disagree with that idea, why should I subjugate my own opinion by admitting to liking this and that euro nonetheless?
By the way Agricola is - what its components' most abundant color is mostly associated with - crap.
Am I imploding?
That's one thing we can agree upon. But regardless, Adrian still sucks for playing FACTORY FUN.

Et tu Schweig!?
WE finally finished our Siege of the Citadel Campaign. I'm not sure if we were doing something wrong (i.e., do you lose the credits when you use an item that is discarded after use?) but it seemed like the missions at the end were alot easier than the ones at the beginning. The first 3 or 4 missions actually have some tension because it is still up in the air whether you will finish them or not. After that, it seems like it is a cakewalk for the Doomtroopers.
I seem to remember the same thing. The second mission in particular was a Nightmare generator.

One of my Vampire brides matured, and the Hunters were starting to get to close, and it was a new day, so I layed a fog encounter down, hoping to bide some time by temporarily neutralising one Hunter while waitign for my Wolf form to fall of the trail.
Van Helsing catches up to me, no sweat: all he's got is a knife, I'll take maybe some hits and escape, right? No. Van Helsing just so happens to have the bane of my existance in his hands--fucking Heroic Leap. In the five times that this card has been played againmst me as a Dracula player I've never rolled under 5. No word of a lie. So Drac is a 14HP (Wolf Form)and I roll, that's right: a 6!.
So things are starting to get a bit hairy, drac is in Eastern Europe, surrounded by Hunters, during the daylight hours, with n ot very many escape routs left. Mina's turn, she uses a sense of emergency to meet up with Drac. It costs her 3 HP but she ahs a stake. I play Claw hoping to mes Mona up a and she ofd course plays stake. We both roll threes- but Mina's stake has the better initiative so Drac is now down to 5 HP. Next combat round Drac plays Dodge Mina plays Dodge- Continuation. Next round Drac plays escape, Mina plays stake, Drac rolls a one for combat-- GAME OVER.
