What BEER(s) have you been drinking?

Yes to session beer. High ABV is just brutal for me these days and turn me off of a lot of beer. Especially because I live in hot as shit Texas, and holy hell why would I drink that double porter sitting on the porch in the scorching sun. Hand me a Coors or a session craft beer.

I'm an unabashed fan of Leinie's Lemon Shandy and Grapefruit Shandy. It goes does very easy while out kayaking or sitting on the deck. I prefer it to the Curious Traveler stuff as the Traveler variety tastes 'Pledgey'.

Some Belgian Red from Portland. It's pretty ridiculous that I can buy almost any random beer off the shelf and it's great. Oy, what a world.

Before that, a "hard ginger ale." 4.2%, which is a stupid waste of my time. Low ABV beverages need to be not sweet, because otherwise it feels like I'm drinking soda.

When Fall approaches, my tastes skew from IPAs and paler beers to the darker and often higher ABV side of the Spectrum, although Guinness and many British beers are pretty light.

Best ginger beer I've had was one from Tree Brewing in BC, that one was perfect, and they go down really well with sushi. Others tend to be either too sweet or sirupy or don't get the balance right.

I'm a sucker for a good ginger beer, especially as I am a big fan of Gosling's Black Seal rum. A local outfit, Schmohz, makes a fantastic ginger beer that I've not found a local competitor to.

Also, I found out that there is a large barley wine festival in Alaska. That is the only thing that would tempt me to go there voluntarily.

Lagunitas Undercover Investigation Shut-Down Ale. Hefty at 9.5, nice and satanic with 66.6 IBUs.

Been drinking a lot of Big Bend Hefeweiss. It's not awesome but what I like is that all their styles are really tuned for sunny, dry Texas days.

Incidentally, a good ginger beer goes well with rye whisky. Try two parts ginger for one part rye. Good stuff.

I've been getting into Ballast Point's "Grapefruit Sculpin", an IPA. 7% ABV. Surprisingly good.

Their Dorado Double IPA is also excellent.

You mean mixing them together, rather than a swig of one, followed by a sip of the second?

I'm amused that Sag revived the thread to poke fun at "brew hipsters" and we're just keeping it going. Now that's ironic.

I like ginger beer mixed with a shot of cinnamon schnapps. Good shit.

That said, Moscow Mules are my all time fave drink now. I can't believe they surpassed my T&T lust.
