Technically, torrenting is not a crime. Breaking copyright law is the crime.

Still, best not to share any crimes on the internet.

We had a few days of bad heat, so I sat in front of a fan and re-watched The Terror. Better the second time. It's a big cast with the two ships worth of crews, but I was able to sort everyone out sooner. Also, the cross between period drama and monster flick made it difficult to know what to expect from its story the first time. Especially since we learned about the expedition (the lead in the cans) in school.

My girlfriend and I took a chance on A Perfect Getaway on Max due to its cast. Milla Jovovich, Steve Zahn, Timothy Olyphant, and Chris Hemsworth! It's billed as a sexy thriller that takes place on Hawaii.

This movie SUCKS. The writing is terrible. They think they are throwing twists at you, but we predicted how this thing was going to shake out well in advance, and we were right. Worse, once you learn the twist that you probably already guessed unless this is somehow your first film experience ever, it makes some of the earlier dialog seem even more bizarre since it seemingly only exists to fool the viewer.

On top of all that, if you are watching for Chris Hemsworth, don't bother, as he is barely in it. He maybe gets 5 minutes of screen time. Olyphant definitely hit the gym for this one, as he is much more buff than I have ever seen him.

Avoid at all costs, 2/10

Good advice !

It looks like the movie is on Amazon Prime now. If only I had waited.

Just got back from 28 Years Later, a rare actual theater experience for me. I really wanted to like this film. The first one is in my Top 10, and the second one is also good.

Parts of this film are very tense, edge of your seat scenes. But overall, I can't say I enjoyed this film. The ending is very odd, and only makes any sense at all when you know it's supposed to be the first of a new trilogy. But having seen it, I am not excited for that trilogy.

5/10

Sinners is on Max, and you should absolutely watch it. It's fantastic. And don't miss the post credits scene, I think it's vital to the whole thing.

Introducing MCU-esque post credit scenes in everything better not be a new trend.

Agreed. I'd have been furious if I had found out I missed that scene, and fucking HBO actually tries to make you miss it.

I remember when MATRIX RELOADED had a post credits trailer for MATRIX REVOLUTION. Fuuuuck those credits were long. After that, I just google a movie to see if there are post credits scenes ; they invariably end up on YouTube. It’s bad enough the endless trailers/ads they play before the movie even starts. I’m not gonna sit through credits as well.

The Idris Elba / John Cena film Heads of State on Prime is surprisingly fun. It's not a "good" movie but it is a fun movie, and that is often enough. 4/5

Season of the Witch (2011) is a perfectly okay movie starring Nicholas Cage and Ron Perlman. The two leads have a decent chemistry together as old friends who survived more than a decade of fighting in the Crusades together. They desert and return to a Europe stricken by the Black Plague and rampant paranoia about witches. There are a few good lines, and Perlman gets the best one: "You ever get the feeling God has too many enemies?" There is some action, some cgi, and a mildly harrowing scene practically swiped from Sorcerer (1977), a very non-supernatural movie. If you watch this movie, you won't regret it. If you never see this movie, you won't be missing much. If this was BGG, I would rate this movie a solid 7.

Saw Superman. It's good. I can definitely see why right wing ghouls don't like it. I am not a fan of the character / series, etc. and enjoyed it. I am sure that if you are a Superman nut there is a lot to love here.

I was very pleased when Nathan Fillion showed up.

I liked it quite a bit. It's waaaay over stuffed to the detriment of most of the storylines, but it's never dull and since its always moving you never really stop and think about how ludicrous Lex's entire operation is and how all his henchmen seem to get a free pass at the end despite committing HORRIFIC atrocities. It's a very comic booky narrative and fortunately they seem to have cut back on the more adult political stuff which breaks the atmosphere for the rest of it.

David is a great superman, not so sure about his Clark as we didn't get to see much of him. Very much liked Racheals Lois as well. Curious to see how the Supergirl flick shapes up and how similar Jason Mamoa's Lobo is to his Aquaman.

K-Pop Demon Hunters on Netflix is pretty good. I think the title alone tells you what to expect. If you don't like musicals, or K-Pop, stay away. 8/10

I watched Weapons. From the director of Barbarian, and if you saw that, you know you are in for a ride.

Weapons is a better film, in my opinion. Also less uncomfortable, but still messed up. It kept me guessing throughout, highly recommended. Honestly I don't have any criticisms, 5/5
