Black phone 2 It's like they approached Joe Hill and said "Want to make a Sequel?" and he said "Sure, as long as you are okay with it being a sequel to A Nightmare on Elm Street"
Finally got a chance to see The Hobby: Tales from the Tabletop. Overall, I thought it was a decent look at the players of games, which is probably the better way to both sell and present the idea than focusing on the games themselves, since the latter would be more interesting to people already involved in the gaming world, rather than demonstrating it to others. One contrasting point to that whole approach is the lack of titles/names for people that were focused on. I only recall one or two of those names showing up and specifically remember moments when they didn't appear at all and I wanted them to. I mean, I know who Eric Lang is but, during his first appearance, if people don't register the fact that Blood Rage is his game and that's why there's a moment of seeing "Designed by Eric M. Lang", they'd have no idea who this guy is other than a) a game designer and b) another frizzy-bearded guy like the other 10 in this film. Same with Candice Harris. I know who she is, but I don't remember her name coming up on the screen, which is a disservice to both subject and viewer.
But, again, overall it was a decent representation. I thought there might have been a couple too many contemplative shots of The Strip or New York or other places where these games are happening. As a director, you want to hit emotional notes, even in a documentary, but it is possible to be heavy-handed, too.
Watched "Man finds Tape" that is equal parts small town blindness to Evil and the addictive nature of Social Media. It does have that feel of "We know all answers to the questions you will ask, but we are not going to reveal them. "
