- You can do this.
cdennett wrote: Death Angel is a fantastic game, you made a good choice. One thing: if you're plating it solo the rules say to play with 3 teams (6 marines). Turns out with the way the spawning math works, this is one of the harder configurations. I highly recommend you start with 4 teams (8 marines) instead. The game is still hard, but much more forgiving.
I think I can get the Mission Pack for $30 at a 2nd and Charles near me.

Sounds like a steal to me, I'd grab it if you can. If you end up not liking the game, you'll easily get your money back when you pass it on.Cranberries wrote: I think I can get the Mission Pack for $30 at a 2nd and Charles near me.

Eldritch Horror + 2 Expansions
Frostpunk + Frostlander Exp
Undaunted: North Africa
War Of The Ring: TCG
I do have a (small) pile for sale, just been too busy to post and manage, and am being very careful with Kickstarters (only backed two this year) so not too crazy on the "games in" front.
I am getting games played with a small group from the new club so that is my defence for this mild accumulation.

Also, got Duelosaur Island, I like the OG a lot and this has the same feel for 2P. Very happy with the purchase.

Yall. Never in my life have I been so motivated to drive to a big-box store to impulse-buy a game. Comic Hunters kicked me square in the nostalgic hangles. It's essentially a set collection game, with four mini-games to keep the set collecting interesting. One is a standard draft, one is a Coloretto knock-off, and one is a standard bid-then-pass auction. The fourth one is the kinda unique one. But in the end, you're just trying to have the best set of symbols at the end of the game.
But the art. The art is a collection of Marvel comic covers. And they did a solid job selecting the covers. Some of my absolute favorite covers from my favorite artists are included. There are a few Walt Simonson Thors, particularly the Beta-Ray Bill's first appearance. Spider-Man #1, from Todd McFarland. There is lots of good stuff that most people with a passing knowledge of Marvel Comics would recognize.
Anyway. I have a copy now.

1. Insanely expensive prices, often for things I could get for less on Amazon and then wouldn't have to carry.
2. Enormous boxes that would have been impossible to carry around, and the con is so goddamn big I was forced to park many blocks away
3. Campaigns, campaigns, campaigns. Who has the time for this shit? Give me a good single session game with lots of replay.

Sold (for very good prices):
Descent: Journeys in the Dark (2e) + 5 expansions
Zombicide Green Horde + No Rest for the Wicked expansion
HEXplore It: The Domain of Mirza Noctis
In (for good or great prices):
Agemonia
Nova Aetas Renaissance
Vampire: The Masquerade - Chapters (this has a lot of errata to incorporate when playing but even the part digital new KS, out in a year or so and which I was eyeing up, was a lot more expensive than the $85 I picked this up for)
When I get to play them is a completely different question ... but I'm not going anywhere and have keen gamers around.

I had a group that was playing Vampire: the Masquerade - Chapters on a monthly basis. We stopped in May, about 2/3 of the way through the adventure, partly because Minnesotans like to get outside more and do stuff during the five months of warm weather each year. But also because I kickstarted the digital assistance app for the game, because we were getting frustrated with the incomplete print errata. The game offers a great story with some very memorable scenes. The investigation mechanic and the branching dialogue trees are enjoyable. The sneaking mechanic is okay. The combat system is a bit disappointing but works well enough, though the fights tend to feel easy despite supposedly scaling up for our four player group. I haven't seen any recent updates for the app and also the character expansions that I kickstarted, but hopefully they do a better job of playtesting this time.

Despite the fact that Rock Hard 1977 is essentially a euro worker placement game (my arch-nemesis) and the board looks a bit like a colorful spreadsheet with a typical euro vp track, I am going to buy it soon. The game is very much based on Jackie's experience in the music industry, and apparently delivers a very strong sense of setting and theme. Aside from that board, the components appear great, especially the guitar picks and the amps that come complete with dials that go to 11. The play money is almost too real, right down to the texture, and the graphic designer added a lot of neat little touches throughout the game. Beyond all that, Rock Hard 1977 is perfect for an upcoming game session that I have scheduled with an old friend and his girlfriend, because they are both musicians who are relatively new to board gaming. And I can potentially enjoy even a euro worker placement game if it completely nails the theme, like say Sons of Anarchy.
